If you are considering investing your time and resources in Bold Product Options, READ THIS FIRST: BEWARE THAT ONCE YOUR SHOPIFY STORE REACHES A POINT OF 1000 PRODUCTS, BOLD OPTIONS STOP WORKING! I have a live store that relies on Bold Product Options for all our product options and we continuously create new products and new options. Suddenly, we discover that new options are not displaying for our new products. Despite looking perfectly fine in Bold app, they are not displaying in the store! Naturally, we reached out to Bold Support and this is the explanation we received: "Unfortunately at the moment our app is limited to support roughly 1000 products and variants combined. This limitation isn't related to the number of products that you are using our app on, but rather a limitation of the total number of products your store contains. Usually when a store has more than 1000 products, it results in some unpredictable issues with assigning products to option sets." Wait, what? Why no one told me that when I was signing up? And why is this clearly well known fact within Bold Commerce is not disclosed at the time of the purchase? So much for "endless product options to your store" they profess on their website! And are they working to resolve the issue? Here is directly from Bold Support again: “I already passed this suggestion along to our developers to look at increasing this in a future update to the application. However, I don't currently know when/if this will be integrated into the app. I wish I had a better answer for you right now, but this is currently all the information I have at my disposal." Another support person wrote to me that he added my company to the list of companies affected by the limitation, thus confirming that this is a known issue, they are just sitting on it for now, waiting for it to reach a critical mass, I suppose.
Needless to say we are deeply (and negatively!) affected by this previously undisclosed limitation. But for someone who is evaluating the app now thinking it could be it, my recommendation is this: If you know that your store will have more than 1000 products in it, Bold Product Options IS NOT YOUR APP! Unless you are diligently adding products to your store to downsize (not sure how that works), which was the recommendation we received from Bold Support. This is not the company to grow with. They cannot support your growth!

We get calls and chats weekly about the product options not showing up for our customers. Contacted them with screenshot (specific browsers), but they said that their team didn't see it, so couldn't help. I find it hard to believe we are the only company seeing this issue. And I wonder how many customers actually don't contact us about the issue and just give up. I will have to look for another provide such as Hulk Product Options.
It randomly gives products away for free.
A few weeks ago we were looking at some orders and noticed that Bold was not adding the up-charges to the order. It added the parts to the order fine and we fulfilled them but the customer was getting them for 0$. Since we have found over $5000 in free items Bold gave away. Customer service has been less than helpful. Downright idgaf attitude to trying to fix it. look at other apps.
There is always an issue with this app, 80% of the time the app is working ! But when it's done it's always hard to fix, indeed you definitly cannot count on the support. They answered in a week or when you already stop using the app ! I am not recommend it !
I never write negative reviews without doing everything in my power to resolve it with the company first. Unfortunately my experience with Bold Product Options has been one of the most horrendous customer service situations I have ever encountered. No-one replies... ever! This extends well before the COVID-19 situation as well. We had the app working perfectly on our website for a long time then it stopped working and they re-applied the settings but not as it was setup previously and now it is a mess. There is coded text appearing against some products and the options are appearing against all products when it should only be linked to certain tags. It is causing us no end of customer service issues and I have emailed Bold more times than I care to count but no-one ever replies. I am more than happy to revisit this review if someone can please help me ASAP to resolve the issues with your app that we are experiencing.
We have been using this app for a quite while. It had problems some time to time but my overall experience was like 4 star until they have gone greedy last month i lost £250 from only one sale because i havent noticed i lost my premium privileges. The product options werent adding up to the cart and lost £250 because i wasnt informed the price gone up from $19 to $49 to have the same options which i used to have. So the options already i was using wasnt functional to add up to the cart. As a result, i have decided to uninstall it and found a better app with a plus which Bold has never had... Sorry guys you should have let me know ...
Updated Review: We were on the premium plan with the Bold PO app and have experienced a significant decline in quality of customer service and the app in general since SCPO acquired it. At first we were excited that they reduced the monthly price point for the premium version by $10/month, but it has come with a serious cost...
Since April 2024, we have encountered issues with incorrect orders, missing required fields, and improper customer charges. Despite customer service's attempts to fix these problems through coding changes, the issue was not resolved and it took over a month of back-and-forth communication to finally have it fixed.
Unfortunately, since that time we have started to have other issues pop up related to the code changes that SCPO made to the site when attempting to troubleshoot our issue in April. Shopify and our theme developer have confirmed the issues are related to those changes made in April, however SCPO said that is not true. As they were unable to assist, I had to seek assistance from an outside tech person to address the issue that they stated they could not find evidence of.
Recently, I again noticed an issue where if someone is changing dropdown menu fields that have a price adjustment attached to them, that the pricing is not always updating correctly on the product. Sometimes it states a price much lower or much higher than it truly should be. I also was not able to add this product to my cart. I sent video evidence of this to customer service and they said they would need to pass it on to the developer to review. I just received an email from the development team not addressing my stated issues whatsoever and telling me that the app is working as it should when this is simply not true. I am beyond frustrated at having an app that I pay $40/month for and my tech issues are not thoroughly investigated, the responses I receive fail to address the issues at hand, and they repeatedly dismiss concerns of which there is video evidence that they do, indeed, exist.
SCPO, it is time for your developers and customer service team to do better and support your clientele.

Previous Review: We have been using this app for about the past 6 months. We utilize the Premium version and for what it is, it is quite pricey; being the only app we found that will alter the pricing at the top of the page with variants, they have a corner on the market, however. For $50/month the easy of editing variants could be better. Another large drawback of the app is that you cannot utilize currency selectors for customers as Bold variants will not adapt, resulting in undercharging of customers and lost revenue. Customer service has been fair as well as overall experience. Again, biggest issue would be premium pricing is $$$$ for what it is.

We are using this up to show extra options on product page but I am very disappointed because app does not sync well and I have to do that all the time manually. Also can not sync all collections I have so I can not put 2000 product in collection, I have to add product manually each time I need options which takes forever.
Sadly this app does not work consistently - customers have been able to add on items without being charged at least a few times a month (twice just yesterday, totalling almost £100!). As you can imagine, writing to the customer after the fact asking for the amount they actually owe is a recipe for never seeing that customer again. We have given Bold customer service ample opportunity to fix this issue (over many months), but the response we receive is they "can't replicate it" on their end. They offered us two months free, but what good is that when the app doesn't work and they refuse to fix it? We have found a different app and plan to uninstall this one ASAP.
For $50 a month...this app should be 100%. I've had nothing but trouble with this app, and the way you have to set it up is so painful...that you end up being stuck with it for a LONG time before you invest the time to switch to something else. Every time I make a product update...I have to contact support and they have to manually fix it. And I know what I'm doing, I'm quite tech savvy. This app is buggy. Their customer service team is fantastic, I'd give 5 stars for that aspect...they try their best to help you and are quick...but they can only help with so much when the app itself has consistent system errors.
