Let your customers request quotes through your cart.
From the normal Shopify cart, customers can request a quote. This will email you all the items requested. It will also create a editable quote in the app admin. From there you can send them back a quote response with pricing discounts and they can accept & checkout. If they aren't ready to checkout they can also comment on the quote which will send you an email.

It has a problem converting currency on a quote.
I was on the Pro plan.
It is supposed to stay in default currency of customer but doesn't and there is no spot to confirm currency before sending it out. We tried different switches where it was supposed to work, but it never did.
It's very unfortunate we have lost money on orders and then had to go to customer to ask for the difference.
I switched to "Quote Guru" much more efficient and user friendly app.
This is the best app for quotes. It allows many things: custom items, templates, pdf quotes, live quotes, and sharable quotes.
I had some issues because one day their server was slow for many hours and my customers could not checkout. This was very bad but now I am not seeing any problem for weeks and I am using this app a lot with major improvements in my services.
I hope that if in the future will is any server issue I will be notified right away so I will be able to handle it.

Highly recommended! Great support from the developer allowed the app to be modified to do exactly what we were looking for. The idea was to somewhat parallel eBay's "request total from seller" button, so that purchasers of multiple items could get an invoice with the least expensive shipping rate. We hoped to migrate eBay buyers to our Shopify store, and didn't want anyone fumbling around, lost in the maze of Internet commerce. And it has worked.
If you ship items with varying weights, this app is a great way to let customers see you are on their side in regards to shipping costs.
Update March 2022. App has been improved and is very smooth. Excellent support and a perfect way to add shipping for complicated orders. A very happy customer!
And more, 2024. Customer support is as good as ever. These guys are not resting on their laurels. They just keep getting better.
And in 2025, as good as ever. You can’t beat their customer support.
