Dear Shopify team, we were expecting that new version will be bug-free, however we still have issues, like, subtotal amount is displayed incorrectly, tip is not shown in line items, SKU is missing, order placed date instead of today's date, etc. Very disappointing...

UPDATE: Fabulous news, the new fucntionality allowing us to import templates from the old ( legacy) order printer app is BRILIANT! Thank you!! You listened. It works perfectly. 5 STAR!
Why oh why can't we have a tempate builder? Why do we need to be coders? I used the originl Order Pinter app for years and it was great...you purchased templates from its sister app and had the WYSIWYG functionality to help you to adapt it. Perfect. Now, I am not able to modfiy your new layouts to fit my label paper, for instance..I use S3 integrated label paper to create picking lists and to add shipping-to labels onto the order! Like almost everyone who runs a small business, I imagine? So I have bought another app...VERY unhappy, Shopify. Your TWo designs - packing and invoice - are rubbish and dont work for me...why can't i use the code from the old app? Why does your system reject it? NOT HAPPY

Very disappointing "update". The nature of our production workflow depends on an ever changing and highly customizable order printer template - And while the legacy app is by no means perfect, I was always able to achieve whatever customization I had set out to accomplish - So when I saw the message that Shopify was sunsetting the old order printer app and migrating to this new one, I had high hopes that they would improve upon the already solid foundation that was the legacy app. I expected, at minimum, quality of life improvements, and was hopeful for some new features.
Instead what I got was an app that is objectively worse in every regard. I say this with no exaggeration or hyperbole: I have yet to find a single thing the new app does better than the legacy app - And worse, there are many cases where the new app does not support some functionality that the legacy app had for years. This is simply unacceptable when my company and many others not only rely on these functions, but have been using them without issue for many years.
Just to name a few:
1. Page breaks - The new app does not seem to support any method of forcing a page break
2. Custom scripts - The legacy app was capable of importing JavaScript libraries and running custom JS functions to perform actions within the template. The new app blocks user scripts and this is no longer possible
3. Float styling - New app does not support styling such as “float: right;”
I am not asking for more. I do not need the new app to do anything better than the old - But at bare minimum it needs to support the things that we have all become accustomed to through years of using the old app. And to be clear: I do not mind the liquid object name changes - As an intermediate/ advanced user, it is easy to modify existing variable names to get them to function in the new app and I understand changes like these are sometimes necessary despite the temporary frustration it might cause merchants.
Thank you so much for your detailed feedback. We want the new app to be not only functional for your business, but also an improvement upon the legacy app. I'll ensure that our developers receive your feedback for consideration in future updates. -Sophia, Shopify Support
Why did you make it so hard to import existing templates?
The Original Order Printer wasn't broken - why fix it? Ok, so fix it, but make it easy for your customers to use it by auto importing our existing templates. This is a nightmare.
Hello!
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your questions/concerns regarding the app.
To migrate your templates, you need to copy your template's code from the legacy app, and then paste the code into the new app. However, the new Shopify Order Printer app has a slightly different implementation than the legacy Order Printer app. This means that some of your existing templates might not work initially, and you might need to make some adjustments to your template's code. Good to see the developers at shopify listened to how bad the first release of this app was. Recently, last week I think it was, there was a new import from templates put in place and I have to say, it is now exactly how all my old custom templates were and works how it should. I am happy with this new implemented import that they have done.
The new Shopify Order Printer app is a significant improvement over the previous version. It integrates seamlessly with Shopify, providing a smooth and intuitive user experience.
Importing templates from the legacy app is straightforward and seamless. The app is highly customizable, allowing you to tailor print templates to your store's specific needs.
Its speed and stability are impressive, ensuring quick prints without technical issues. In summary, the new Shopify Order Printer is simple, fast, stable, and highly customizable, making it ideal for any Shopify store.
This update is a significant improvement for us! We now have the ability to include more detailed information in our invoices and packing lists, thanks to the use of metafields, customer notes, and a wide range of variables and styles. While the new requirement for object names in variable names was unexpected, it ultimately allowed us to enhance our documents exactly how we wanted. It would have been convenient to automatically transfer the old Order Printer Templates, but we understand it’s a complex task.
Overall, great job on this much-needed upgrade!
My template, even after importing does not even have basic things like shipping amts, totals etc. The time spent on this is crazy, wasted.

WHY? Why would you subject us to such an app? Almost useless- missing data (SKU's), hard to read- too small font, no lines, etc. etc. etc.
Going back to legacy for now then looking for something else.
Thank you for your review and feedback. We switched over to a different tech stack that provides a better foundation to grow and roll out features. -Emily, Shopify Support
over the years Shopify has made some changes that have not been helpful for us. This change takes time to get use to but right off the top the change has been helpful in terms of toner usage. The new format takes less toner to print as the bold lines used on the old format are gone. I do like the new format and like that the "packing slip" is labeled as such.
