UPDATE 12/28/23: A few weeks ago, a code change was rolled out and broke so many things in our configuration. We are now dealing with mess after mess after mess. Every day something new is broken. These developers roll out code changes without taking into account and testing what will happen to existing configurations. At this point, we are going to have to find another subscription app. So upset we spent so much time building out this app.
UPDATE: Have been live for over a month and have been very pleased so far. The team is always quick to help us with any issues we run into and our customers have been very happy with the customer portal compared to our previous subscription app. It took a bit to get it fully configured how we wanted it to and understand all of the settings. But now that we are up and running, 5 stars.
UPDATE: One of the Appstle developers got on a video call with me and it was determined that another app in my theme was causing this to happen and not Appstle. Updating my review from 3 stars to 4 because we are still working on some bugs with the Build A Box feature, but they are always very responsive and the app has a lot of potential if we can just get it all configured the way we need for our use case.
There is no doubt that for the price, this app has the most amount of features for subscriptions. Lots of different ways you can configure it. However a big warning here…we have this app turned off and have had 3 customers forced into a subscription without signing up for one. While this is only about 2% of our orders during the timeframe, these customers were livid and thought we were scamming them. The customer support team is always quick to respond, but after a week on this particular issue they determined that my screenshot that I showed them of it happening (yes, I was able to recreate it myself) was a “misunderstanding” and nothing is wrong. In my testing I have determined that the only fool proof way is duplicating products to have one product be in the Build A Box and the original product be the one-time product. Otherwise you run the risk of customers getting forced into a subscription without choosing one. And if you have the app turned off in your theme, that means nothing…beware that there is a chance customers will be forced into a subscription even when you have it turned off.

This is Ria, the co-founder of Appstle. I sincerely apologize for your less than stellar experience with Appstle. We understand that code changes brought to either add new features, or to comply with Shopify updates can affect setup. Since the time of the review, we have come up with a way to make sure no code changes affect merchants’ existing configurations. This has been vigorously tested across scenarios, and all existing Appstle Subscriptions setup in a store will remain intact.

We migrated from ReCharge. This app is much better considering the price difference. But I will warn you that the actual migration process was not straight forward.
For migration - the devil is in the detail so I would recommend doing your DD here before undertaking the challenge. Appstle have a great support team so we were able to get the migration completed, but it took much longer than expected.
I suggest this to try and help you migrate: the best solution was to 1) completely DISABLE your ReCharge subscriptions for a few days (so customers cannot make any changes), 2) then complete migrating across all of the data, 3) and then ENABLE on Appstle (after testing/UAT). First we tried to migrate while ReCharge was still active (which meant customers constantly updating their subscriptions), so the data in each platform was never in sync.
@Appstle team - there is a big opportunity for improvement with the migration process.
In terms of ongoing support it has been excellent. Always fast communication and they make bespoke customisations for us as required.
It has a lot of features already built in, so most of the things you can think of are ready to go. If you want a feature that is not currently offered, it goes into a production backlog whereby users can vote for the new features to be developed.
I would definitely recommend this app if you're running a subscription offering in your business.

super easy to use and looks great on my website. i noticed my subscriptions weren't working like they should have been and entered the Appstle live chat option for support. The issue was fixed in less than 10 minutes and it was incredibly easy to communicate with the support team. very good experience

I am just getting started with my website and the idea of integrating all the features of bigger stores is daunting. However I know that I will need to offer these features and conveniences if I am going to compete. Appstle has been a huge weight off my mind because I have no idea how to code and these guys made the process easy. Now the step between sending someone a bill and getting paid is eliminated because I offer physical products and services on my site. Even prompt people will sometimes ignore an invoice. So, turn that invoice into a receipt.

The subscription setup was easy but I had an issue where the checkout didn't recognize the subscription order. Support was able to get on a chat with me quickly and helped resolve the issue, which was a theme compatibility issue. Harris from the support team guided me and fixed the issue quickly. He also offered to change the look and feel of the subscription widget box to match our theme. Wonderful support team and amazing app!

If I could give them more than 5 stars I would. For years I've been limping along with subscription apps that ALMOST did what I wanted, and every couple of years I'd look around to see if anything new was available. Another business owner told me about Appstle and she was right. The search is over. Appstle is perfect!
It has so many options for different types of subscription schedules, a gorgeous dashboard for my customers - clean, simple, easy to navigate and VERY easy to customize with exactly the info and options I want them to have access to.
And the customer service is amazing! I've NEVER encountered this level of help before. I had to migrate a group of subscribers once before (with another company) and it was a disaster. They realized (after I deleted all the subscriptions) that a migration wasn't possible and I had to ask all my subscribers to resubscribe. That was NOT an experience I wanted to repeat, so I had a million questions for the folks at Appstle and they were so incredibly patient answering them all. Mine was a fairly complex migration because I was also changing the payment schedule from every 30 days to everyone being charged on the same day (which is another fabulous feature Appstle offers) and they basically did the entire migration for me. It worked flawlessly!
I'm a creative business owner - not a web developer - with an online business for fifteen years, and I've encountered so many situations where tech support people are either really condescending or really impatient when I don't understand the tech jargon. Over the course of the migration process I worked with several different people at Appstle and every single one of them was polite, patient, helpful and KIND. They made every step of the process incredible easy.
