It seems to use google translate which created odd translations. I am selling clothes and it would consistently change "flat" to "apartment" in other languages. Obviously that is not what I meant. So it works but still needs a lot of double checking.
Sadly you can primarily choose to translate everything, which , when I tested it, changed all my manual adjustments. The support team tried to help in this matter, and confirmed that this is not the usual, but I did have issues with needing to retranslate things.
However a fix around was deleting fields to a blank in the translation and that no longer got translated. But it was not the greatest solution for me.
Since the google translation didnt work great for me, i ended up making a lot manual and after a while gave up. I am sure if you have easier content, easier understandable for google, it might be useful. Also the support is great proactive in trying to help.
Add-on: because of those difficulties, I disabled now the translate app. But now the entire page reflects in that weird translated german even though my default language is English! I reached out to the support and they explained that when you use any translation app, that your translation gets saved in your shopify store. So my only fix was talking to shopify who helped me to take it down again (however, this took 2 days until it was fixed. Not great when the language is so wrong translated)

Its good but wish it would translate everything for me instead
We've reach out over email. Translate & Adapt should be able to translate most of your store. We only cannot translate 3rd party apps that aren't supporting the Shopify translation API.
muito bom mas falta uma coisinha que era mais configurações para deixar ainda melhor nocaso nao consigo colocar ele como opção pro cliente escolher o idioma
Hi, Language selectors are a part of the theme. It isn't related to Translate & Adapt. To turn it on you can go to your theme settings and turn it on.
I changed languages. But I cannot change default languages for automatic translation. After I discussed with app team. I can reset program but it still need progress of many parts.
ONLY 2 LANGUAGES?? IS THERE ANY WAY TO TRANSLATE MORE LANGUAGES EVEN MANUALLY? THIS IS WAYYYYYY TOO LITTLE..
You can manually translate up to 20 languages manually which is the Shopify limit for no. of languages. The limit of 2 languages is only related to the use of auto-translate.
Good, but it lacks some important features:
1. Export/import specific content for CSV/Excel: for example the possibility to export/import ONLY the products or ONLY the collections or ONLY specific metafields or ONLY the theme sections, etc.
2. Add "Name" or "Namespace and key" in the metafield export file (it is impossible to filter specific metafields if you do not name them in the spreadsheet)
3. Move translations between themes (Theme Sections and Theme Assets)
4. Apps text translations
Hi there, thanks so much for trying the app and your feedback.
1. From Settings > Languages you can export and import a CSV. You can delete any rows you don't want to upload, so you can import a resource type at a time. Export by resource is coming.
2. This is helpful feedback. It's a limitation from outside our app, but improved metafield support is under development. In the short term the CSV can be used to translate all instances of a phrase using your spreadsheet tool's find and replace.
3. This is an additional limitation outside the app but one we are looking at closely. Standard theme content such as checkout and system messages are included in all Shopify themes in supported languages. As themes can differ, migrating edited content between themes has challenges. The CSV can also be used to match content between themes.
4. Shopify Translate & Adapt translates content available via the Translations API, which for 3rd party apps means it saves to metafields or the theme. However some 3rd party apps can translate other 3rd party app content on the storefront using Javascript. These can be used alongside Translate & Adapt.
Best wishes,
Shopify Translate & Adapt team
Easy enough to use, but Google Search Console is constantly calling out 404 not found errors for multiple localized pages. Reran auto-translate multiple times. Keeps coming back with random missing localized pages. Not a reliable product.
Hi, thanks for the review. Something doesn't sound right here - please get in touch at localization-product-team@shopify.com and we'll look into it. Thanks
Translations are inconsistent both in wording and formatting, and are often inaccurate. Each translation requires manual review and revision which is very time consuming. Disappointed in the unreliability of the translation process and decided to remove the app.
Hi, thanks for trying the app - we've sent an email.
we want more languadges translated with google
