This is app is great when it's working. However, it would fail to export to XERO for returning customers due to the name already existing in the contact list on Xero. I have to change the setting to not create Contacts and then manually change the invoice details in Xero. This is doubling up my time in correct problem that should not be a problem. Also, it marks invoices and paid which means that I can reconcile the payments until i 'remove & redo' the payment which was system created against the invoice.
Also, there is no support channel if thing goes wrong.
Great app for our new store, however be warned... this was on a brand new store.
Problem 1: On our other store, I'm migrated to Shopify from Pinnacle Cart, importing over 180K orders going back to 2011 as historical data. Then, I enabled this app and orders going back to 2011 (past our xero limit) started trying to export to Xero and the exports showing errors. The instruction from Bold was to move back the Xero limit date so invoices can export. I thought the app would have just import orders from when it was installed going forward, or you could set a date. Now with no bulk 'delete' or 'void' option in Xero, I had to purchase a third party Chrome app to batch void thousands of invoices in 200 invoice batches.
Problem 2: The app assumes (and only allows) that all sales should go to one Chart of Account in Xero (you choose which Chart of Account to use). However, we need to be able to assign different product types (General, Subscriptions and Donations) to different Chart of Accounts in Xero. So, every morning I have to spend up to an hour in Xero changing invoice line items to the correct Chart of Account... a real pain.
Only 2 things needed to make this the perfect app ever. Please allow me to split payment options because at the moment if I have 10 orders paid with in cash and 10 paid with card, they all all just be marked paid to a bank. I would rather have that split into 2 different payment ways (just like PayPal and Bank are split)
Other thing is, the automatic API setting with xero is so broke - my orders just disappear and don't sync properly. Which will be problematic when a company has lots of orders
I begrudgingly have to give this app 1 star as it's the minimum, but If I could give it zero (no pun intended) I would.
We used this app for well over a year before BOLD took over at it worked like a charm, no problems whatsoever.
It now gives invoices ridiculous invoice numbers and imports orders from dates that you have specifically asked it not to, amongst numerous other issues.
It is simply awful, and I would advise anyone not to use it.
it cost us hours and hours of removing invoices it had duplicated (even though we asked it to import from a certain date, it ignored it).
I've been looking for a Xero integration app for a long time. There was almost a lot to like about this one but it's not quite there.
They don't tell you how the integration works and what fields are used. I also don't like that your only options are to call every customer Shopify (no customer details are transferred), or it creates a new customer every upload even if they are in the system.
I don't like how it creates a new inventory line if the SKU isn't linked; there should be more options around how and what information is integrated.
Nice try, but more work needed to be a functioning app.
Does an ok job for a free app, lots of manual work arounds needed, don't think it's worth the pricing they want to charge. Will expect improvements in functionality and support if they want people to pay
Customer service was quick to respond to some problems we had and we are currently resolving. Will update this review.
WARNING to anyone migrating to Shopify from another platform and looking at this app to take care of your invoicing to Xero, it will try to export all historical data. It does not have an option to skip anything, and it will do it without your knowledge, and there's nothing support can do for you.
We thought we was exporting 2 days of sales, the app decided to try and export 5 years worth, all of which already in Xero from our previous platform. Needless to say our accountant wasn't happy.
If you're starting your business from scratch and haven't used Xero for anything already then you're probably fine. If you're moving to Shopify from something like Magento or another platform look elsewhere.
I would recommend this app as the app developer Bold Commerce is always on hand to help with any queries. I have been in touch with Paul @ Bold since we started using Shopify and he has helped walk us through each of the issues we've encountered. Most of the issues have been solved and any that haven't we have been told will be investigated during a planned update during Q1 of 2018
We tried this app, it might work for some people as they do export all the order at the end of the day. We would have continued using them if there was some customizing options to simplify the accounting ( in our case we needed daily sales export in one or two invoices for all the orders from the day with the ability to seperate cash orders). It is a pretty bad reputation for Shopify to have such basic things made complicated. Most Brick and mortar places get their pos synced and payed all together at the end of the shift. So the existing system has a chance of smooth running for online only and syncing to one account.
