I have been using AVADA SEO for my Shopify jewelry store and have mixed feelings about the app.
The technical features are excellent. Image optimization, WebP conversion, page speed improvements, schema generation, broken link checks, and other technical SEO tools work well and provide real value. For these features alone, the app deserves credit.
However, the content SEO recommendations feel outdated and seem based on SEO practices from several years ago. The scoring system still heavily rewards keyword density, exact-match keywords in the first sentence, repeated keyword usage, and other traditional SEO factors. Modern search engines, especially after Google's Helpful Content updates and the rise of AI-powered search, focus much more on search intent, semantic relevance, topical authority, entities, and natural language.
I followed the app's recommendations closely and optimized many collection pages to achieve near-perfect SEO scores. While the pages scored well inside the app, my organic traffic actually declined because the content became overly optimized and less natural for users.
My recommendation: Use AVADA for image optimization, speed improvements, and schema management. These features are worth having. But don't rely solely on the content scoring system or chase a 100/100 SEO score. Modern SEO in 2026 is about helping users and covering topics naturally, not just repeating keywords.
Overall rating: 2.5/5 stars.
The remaining question is whether the $35 per month subscription is worth it. For technical SEO features alone, it may be reasonable for some stores. However, if you're paying mainly for content SEO guidance and optimization scores, I don't believe the value justifies the cost. The recommendations appear to lag behind current search trends by a few years and don't adequately reflect how Google and AI-powered search platforms evaluate content today.
Dear Freakysera team,
Thank you for sharing your concerns. We apologize for any frustration you may have experienced. Your feedback is valuable to us as we continuously strive to improve our services.
While we strive to thoroughly test all new features, occasionally updates from platforms like Shopify can create unforeseen issues. Please be assured that we take your feedback very seriously and will use it to improve our processes.
I also want to apologize for the delayed responses you've encountered. This is certainly not the level of service we aim to provide, and we are taking steps to work with our internal team and ensure more timely support in the future.
Regarding the concern about custom meta data, please note that this feature is primarily intended for users who utilize the meta tags setting in the search appearance. This feature should only be enabled if you use the Avada's meta tags setting to apply mass meta tags across various pages while still having custom meta tags for specific pages. Since you are not currently using Avada's Meta tags feature, enabling custom meta data for each product or collection is not necessary.
I have sent you an email with more detailed information. Please reply to my email so that we can provide you with more personalized support. We look forward to resolving the remaining issues to your satisfaction.
Best regards,
Esther
Amazing Customer Service, everyone is expert and trying to find solution. but the app needed improvement with things example: content research, Automation AI in Description, Integration with Gempages build last but not least is needed accurate score to show that is effecting SEO in Google
Staff is 5 stars, helping to resolve any issues without long wait in the queue. The free tier of the app is also amazing.
UPD: The free tier is no longer include a lot of features that were available before, also the website speed slowed down by a lot. Too bad good the greed took over and now, most of useful features are paywalled.
Update: Nov 2023
Degrading rating due to poor support offered when the app decided to delete and jumble my images across my store. After two weeks of chasing for a reply and being told the tech team 'were looking into it' the end reply boiled down to:
'Sorry after two weeks Shopify deletes any deleted images, it might be us but we think it's you'
That's quite insulting, I am quite capable in telling the difference between a black and yellow jumper, or a between two products that have the colour printed on the label in the picture. Also if you can think of a reason why I needed to have multiple copies of multiple pictures across my listings I would love to here your reasoning behind it.
It used to be good, now would not recommend.
Original Review:
Good app, I'm currently on the free plan but at present that works enough for me, will likely change to the paid one in the near future. Rainy and the team were great at helping me with a formatting issue on my HTML sitemaps that caused Google to complain about non mobile friendliness. I think I use pretty much all the features provided now I have had time to really use them. Edit: Nov 2022
I had a small hiccup with the store not redirecting 404's, Jasmine quickly fixed this and all is well once more.
First off the support is really great. Fast and helpful.
Unfortunately the app changed things in the code that prevented my from updating my theme. So I had to unistall it.
Besides that I found it helpful and easy to use.
Didnt see much performnace improvements, but I was only using the free plan. So I guess that is fair.
Not working for me, the app make my site in iphone devices started to have a lot of issues with the images, avada tech support could not fixt it but they always repied on time
Im not finding very intuitive
I got this app mostly for image optimization. To be honest its a "meh" because after I have gone back through the images i noticed that alt image text has only been applied to missing pictures that are the main image on the page. Basically it means I have to go through 1800 images by hand, which is why i got the app in the first place. I have not used any of the SEO portions of the app, partly because I have someone working on it, and partly because I was not particularly impressed so far. I plan to explore it to justify the monthly charge however.

Leaves code when uninstalled, and creates an AVADA Product collection.
