Shopify Inbox should be connected to the major sales channels of Email, SMS, WhatsApp.
This app isn't designed correctly because it should be integrated with the channels that Shopify Messaging is using.
Ideally when you send a promotion, you can just allow customers to message you back and convert them directly in chat.
The PMs here should look at how ManyChat works and build a more streamlined integration between Shopify Messaging and Inbox.
This should also integrate with other sales channels like FB Messenger or IG DMs.
There should be automation features where you can send leads to the cart directly from a DM.
Overall, Shopify Inbox works pretty well and I’m happy with it. The main issue is the z-index/layering of the chat activation button.
The chat button often overlaps or covers other important elements on the storefront, such as the cart drawer, Quick Add buttons, and email pop-up windows. It would be great if Shopify could provide better control over the chat button’s z-index or update its default layering behavior so it doesn’t interfere with other storefront elements.
Everything else is pretty good — this is just a small but quite annoying UI issue that I hope can be improved in a future update.
App easy to install and get working.
You can ONLY change the color of the background and text,
but you cannot change the color of the text area.
That means, it you change the background to blue, then all the background is blue including the chat area
Thanks for this review. You asked for more control over how the chat looks, and that is now live. In your Shopify Admin, go to Sales channels > Inbox and click the pencil icon next to the Inbox name. It opens the Theme editor on the Inbox app embed, where you can adjust text size, chat button size, and colors, so the chat can be as prominent or as subtle as you want.
I like it, but it lacks several features
* API , I want to pull the messages
* I can't just reply the message via email
* On mobile, I can't just open the web-version of Shopify Inbox
* it always send notification to one email, it should go to all emails
a nova atualização está pessima! Não pede email do cliente e se você não estive online pra responder, não tem como responder mais depois como antes que a resposta ia pro email do cliente.
Obrigado for the feedback. You are right: without an email, replies sent after the customer leaves have nowhere to go. A new Inbox setting brings this back. Customers can share their name and email to start a chat, like the previous Inbox, so your answers reach them even when you are offline. It is rolling out to all stores now under Sales channels > Inbox > Chat settings > Collect customer details. Choose Require name and email there (the other options are Require customers to sign-in and Allow anonymous chats). One note: this applies to chats with your team. The AI agent still answers anonymous visitors instantly, by design, so customers get help in seconds even while you are offline. We default to sign-in because it confirms the customer owns the email they leave, but you can now choose the simpler flow.
There has been one issue it comes up on the front of my iphone but there can be a long delay before the message shows in the app. This can be especially annoying if you don't catch the gist of the message from its first appearance.
Thanks for flagging this, and for the detail on the delay between the iPhone notification and the message showing in the app. That lag is worth looking into, especially when the preview doesn't show the full message. Making sure you're on the latest app version can sometimes help with sync timing. If it continues, our support team can dig into it with you at help.shopify.com/support. Thanks for taking the time to report it.
Can't find anywhere to have the email notifications go to our store email address instead of the owner email address. This isn't great when staff need to help with notifications.
Thanks for sharing this. Each staff member you add to Inbox gets their own message notifications, so your team can help respond without relying on the owner's email. You can manage team access and notification preferences in your Inbox and store settings. For help setting this up the way your team works, our team at help.shopify.com/support can walk through the options, and your feedback on routing notifications to a shared store address is valuable as we keep improving Inbox.
I was really happy when the AI was working, but it suddenly disappeared. Now I have to respond to customers manually instead of the AI agent. Could you please check why this happened?
Hi HWANGSIL, sorry you ran into an issue. We had a brief outage that should have resolved. I just confirmed on your site that chat with AI agent is working. Let us know if you see a problem again.
I can't open the chat box, it keeps showing 'Error occurred' 'Please try again'
Hi AIX-studio, sorry you ran into an issue. We had a brief outage that should have resolved. Is this still a problem you are seeing?
its good, only problem is you cant copy/past images and links....very annoying when trying te help a customer
Glad Inbox is working well for you overall. I can see how not being able to copy and paste images and links slows you down mid-conversation. For sharing images, the attachment/upload option in the message bar is often a quicker route than pasting, and links can be sent as typed-out text. Your feedback on making copy and paste smoother is genuinely useful and helps us keep improving Inbox for you and your customers.
