Printify: Print on Demand

Shopify integration works well, easy enough to understand. They now offer AI descriptions but don't count on them for any more than technical descriptions.

I'm an Australian merchant running my store in AUD. After using Printify I discovered multiple misleading displays that cost me money:

1. Retail price shown in USD, not your store currency Printify displays retail prices in USD, but when products sync to Shopify the number transfers across with no conversion — $35.25 USD becomes $35.25 AUD. There is no warning or USD label at the point you set your price.

2. Profit margin figure is fictitious for non-USD merchants Printify shows a 40% profit margin — but this is calculated on a USD retail price being received as AUD. The real result is a loss, not a profit.

3. Shipping shows $0 and cannot be adjusted The shipping cost field shows $0 and is locked. Printify charges you real shipping costs (in my case $9.85 AUD per order) but gives you no way to factor this into your retail price within their interface.

The combined effect: I sold 4 shirts at $35.25 AUD while Printify's total cost was $46.68 AUD per order — a loss of $11.43 per sale with no indication it was happening.

Printify already converts product costs to local currency on their billing page, so the exchange rate data exists. These are not technical limitations — they are design choices that consistently disadvantage non-USD merchants.

Non-USD merchants — do your own currency conversion before setting any retail price.

Poor customer service. One customer's product never arrived. It was outside the 30 days (too short) time period and refused to re-print and ship or refund.
