Merchants highly praise this app for significantly boosting site speed and SEO by automating image optimization tasks such as compression, renaming, and ALT text addition. They report up to a 25% increase in website speed and appreciate the automatic optimization of new images. The app also features user-friendly tools like before-and-after sliders to show compression effects and maintains high image quality post-compression. After bigger problems on first round image renaming, I was able to fix the names. App works fine so far, but be aware of the renaming tool. Its not final
Easy to use and install. Only needed it for a short time. Would have kept it if the monthly price was a little lower.
Update Review:
I tried the free version to optimize the images. However, it can only optimize the product images which were not my actual image issue. Thus it didn't change the speed in my case.
I contacted customer support and I get respond quickly from Tom, who provide very helpful information and suggestions. I understood the concept, also appreciate Tom took the time providing me with some helpful solutions and other sites. I have to agree it's very good customer service and honest business. Which is the reason I am providing this update review.
The app runs as smooth as silk, clear as a bell, clean as a whistle! What it did and is doing for me is invaluable. I used the google page speedtest before and after crushing my image. It made a huge difference - from 67/100 on mobile and desktop to 84/100 on mobile and 91/100 desktop. I crushed all my images to lossless and didn't lose anything visually. A good app at a good price.
One click compression option should be kept in paid plan. Because time is money. Otherwise there is a tick. Super performance
Easy to use, but it would be nice to have a tool to run on your website before the optimization to recommend which tier of the subscription plan would be best for your number of assets. Hard to judge without going through thousands of images and adding up their sizes.
Very good recommended application. I'm just testing it but so far it's ok. I hope it exceeds my expectations. very good
Cool app! Significantly increase my overall site speed according to Google rating.
It does the job but very slow. When it started the compress job, it said 11 hours remaining. After 4 full days it was still 7 hours remaining I contacted support for this but could not get a reply or help.
Hi there - We've replied to all your emails, at both email addresses, but it seems you aren't receiving them. Can you check your spam/junk folders and whitelist spacesquirrel.co with your email provider?
We are really sorry for the delay in compression over the past week. There were some issue at our data centre which has resulted in a small backlog of images that need compressing. Things are back to normal now.
Again, we're really sorry for the inconvenience. Be sure to check your junk/spam email folders for our replies and let us know if you have more questions.
That doesen't make sense at all but after using this app I tested again the speed of my website on www.gtmetrix.com and the score was lower. How is it possibile if I compressed the pictures? It switched from B89% of speed score to B81% and from C74% of slow score to D62%
So this app basically and magically made the performance of my website worse instead of better
Hi there,
We're really sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with our app. Sites like GTMetrix are a good analysis tool to get ideas for optimizing your site, but they has a few flaws such as (1) the scoring system doesn’t correlate to actual speed, (2) Sometimes you can make your site faster with these optimizations and the score will drops, and (3) if you have 3rd party apps (every Shopify site) you’ll get warnings that can’t or shouldn’t be cleared.
So while these can be great guidelines, the scores on these sites don't actually equal speed increases and speed increases don't guarantee a better score.
We'd be happy to explain it in more detail or answer more questions so feel free to reach out to use at support@spacesquirrel.co
