Rounding at the product level creates an accurate price at the cart, and a price the customer would expect. Here's the difference between calculating at the product level vs the cart.
ROUNDING THE CART (Not ideal)
Let's say you have a rule to round everything to .99. You have a product that ends up at $9.40 after the currency calculation, so the app rounds it to $9.99 and that's what is displayed on the product.
Now let's say you add two to the cart. You'd think you have $19.98 right? The problem is, you actually have $18.80 (9.40 x 2) in the cart, so they'll round the cart to $18.99.
This is not what the customer would expect. While they're saving a dollar here, it could go the other way too where they're paying more than they'd expect. So not good overall.
ROUNDING AT THE PRODUCT LEVEL (More accurate, and the way we do it)
Let's take that exact same scenario where you have a product that's $9.40 after conversion, but then rounded to $9.99. With our app, the rounding is done, calculated and locked in at the product level. So if you add two to the cart, you're cart total will be $19.98.
This of course is exactly what the customer would expect. No surprises!
