Translations work well but does not work at all with metafields, translates metafields and breaks for example Judge.me from working in translated languages by translating Judge.me metafields also does not offer anykind of way to mass delete the translated metafields only solution they offer is do each product manually. Disappointment from Shopify's own App.
We work with Product Metafiels, whereof some change on a frequent base. Translate and Adapt does not translate them once there is a translation. useless. And you cannot bulk delete translations to trigger a new translation. God know why. Waste of time.
At the beginning was ok but as soon as you have more products and more information, the translation app stops working properly causing a massive issue. You can't identify the exact part you want to translate so you are 100% dependent on the "auto-translate".
Also the customer support is very bad! Once I reached them out, they told me to manually translate everything which I would do but there is no way how to do it. In the end they deleted everything from my shop and caused a major problem than the one that I had. So I had to start over again and now I decided to delete it and take another app.
Works okay but when using subdomains (like .com/en-fr or /en-de, there are SEO issues with cannibalisation. Google, and bing show warning and issues. I don't really have the budget to translate well enough to warrant forcing German or French translation only, because it may be inaccurate. One day I may try again.
I've tried a few translate app and this one fits my budget and does part of the job well.
I would prefer translation ensured by ChatGPT as Google translate is not as accurate for French or Greek. Maybe the developer of this app could consider it or use shopify AI?
The auto-translate button is a nice option, but I noticed after a few months that it was not always translating the metadata. Improvement on that part would be appreciated.
that app need an exemtion list to be perfect, it is abnormal that this is translating the name of the products
Still waiting for the ability to manage product images, edit image url (wihtout changing image), edit ALT-text and so on. These are basic features in an international e-commerce that should have been in place several years ago. Furthermore, it means more images need to be uploaded to their servers while all you really needed was the ablity to change the uri and the alt text.
Sorting or filtering among products could use a bit of improvment.
Great app, provides essential features, saves a lot of work. Unclear why only two languages, though, need more.
The app works fine in terms of translation quality and the interface is simple to use. However, there is a major and poorly explained limitation that makes it very frustrating in real-world use.
Shopify Translate & Adapt only allows automatic translation for two languages per store, and it counts any language that already has machine-translated content, even if that content was created using a different app.
In my case, Spanish was translated with another app and manually reviewed, but Translate & Adapt still counts it toward the limit. As a result, I cannot use this app to automatically translate a third language (French), even though I never used Shopify Translate for Spanish.
This is not a technical bug, but a product limitation that is not clearly communicated, and it can seriously disrupt your translation strategy if you have already invested time in another tool.
Use this app only if you are absolutely sure which two languages you want to support from day one. Migrating or combining apps later is much more restrictive than it appears.
