Web accessibility is now a legal expectation for online stores selling in the EU. a11y-guard helps you understand where your storefront stands, act on the issues that matter, and keep a durable record of the steps you have taken. The app runs scheduled scans of your key pages and surfaces accessibility issues, each mapped to WCAG 2.1 AA and EN 301 549, the technical standard behind the European Accessibility Act. It reports two honest numbers: how many success criteria were actually tested, and how many issues are open, with a breakdown by severity. Criteria that cannot be checked automatically are never counted as passed. Every audit and action is written to a tamper-evident, hash-chained journal that you can export as a PDF. You can draft an accessibility statement from your latest audit facts in English or German, and get developer notes for issues that need a change in your theme source code. AI-generated alt-text descriptions are drafts only: nothing is written to your images until you review and approve each one. Automated testing finds only a portion of accessibility issues. a11y-guard does not replace a manual expert audit or testing with people who use assistive technology, and it does not guarantee any legal outcome. Treat its findings as a prioritised starting point, not a final verdict on your store.
