Great storefront chat — we still use a helpdesk for email/social
Chaterimo is strong for on-site chat, proactive visitor nudges, and fast answers. We still keep our existing helpdesk for email/social/SMS workflows because those suites are built around a unified inbox. But if your main goal is an AI chat layer that can triage with ticketing and let you pick the best LLM (including Grok), this is a great setup.
Promising, but needs more integrations.
The core works, and support was responsive, but the chat UI felt a bit basic for our brand, and we wanted more integrations. It’s a solid AI assistant, just not as ‘all-in-one helpdesk’ as the bigger platforms—yet.
Cut down a large portion of our support workload (and increased sales).
We’re a small team, and Chaterimo has essentially become our 24/7 frontline support. The setup was quick, it pulls in accurate product and order data, and we were able to adjust the tone to fit our brand so it doesn’t feel like a generic bot. The proactive sales assistant works really well — it engages visitors after a few seconds on key pages with relevant questions, and we noticed more ‘I was just about to leave’ conversions. The biggest advantage: unlimited conversations with BYOK, while still having full control over the model and costs.
I’ve tested a lot of chatbot apps and most of them feel overcomplicated or locked behind limits. Chaterimo keeps things clean and gives you real flexibility with your AI model choice. Setup took a bit of time at first, mainly around API configuration, but once it’s running it performs extremely well. Responses are fast, accurate, and customers are getting help instantly. Definitely one of the best-value chatbot apps I’ve used so far.
Solid lightweight chatbot. We use it with the latest GPT model and the answers are scary good. The pricing tiers were a bit unclear when I first installed, took me a while to figure out which plan I actually needed. But compared to Tidio its a no brainer for the price. 10/10 would recommend
Love the app itself, super lightweight and doesnt bloat my theme like Tidio did. I took off one star just cuz setting up the Gemini API key was a total headache. Google makes their cloud console so confusing to navigate. Not Chaterimos fault (their guide was ok) but if ur not tech savvy it takes a minute to figure out where to get the keys. Once its connected tho? It flies. Best AI I’ve used.
Awesome, but BYOK onboarding could be clearer.
Love the chatbot and customization, and the ‘unlimited conversations’ angle is real if you’re comfortable bringing your own API key. That said, BYOK confused all our team members at first (where usage costs show up, which key to use, and what to expect). Once we got it, the value is excellent — especially with proactive prompts and ticketing when the bot hits an edge case.
Way more flexible than other helpdesk bots
I tried a couple of other chatbot apps before this and always felt limited by their built-in AI. With Chaterimo, I actually get to connect my own OpenAI API and choose the exact model I want (currently using GPT 5.2), which makes a huge difference in response quality. Setup was pretty straightforward, although I did have to read through the pricing page twice to fully understand how usage is calculated. Once that clicked, everything made sense. Support was responsive and helpful. For the price and flexibility, it’s honestly hard to beat.
We like that we can choose the newest/best LLM depending on what we’re optimizing for — quality vs cost — without rebuilding our whole setup. We even tested Grok just to compare tone and speed, and switching models was painless. Combined with proactive sales prompts and ticket handoff, it feels like a sales + support hybrid.
Confusing pricing at first, but worth it
Switched from Gorgias mainly to cut costs. Chaterimo is def way cheaper, but I was pretty confused by the pricing structure in the beginning... didn't really get how the model usage billed vs the app subscription. Support helped explain it quickly tho. Now that I get it, I'm saving like $300 a month!
