So far, this has opened me up to a lot of scamming, and I'm being charged the chargeback fees once a bank fraud claim is issued. So Shopify is making $0.35 on every $1 donation, the donation is not being caught by Shopify fraud detection and instead automatically fulfilled, the real person disputes and I'm charged $16. My store will go broke very quickly at this rate.

Card testing fraud is unfortunately a growing issue across all Shopify stores, not just those with donations. Fraudsters use small transactions to validate stolen card numbers, and because donations are typically low-value, they can slip past Shopify's built-in fraud filters.

• Setting a minimum donation amount to make card testing less attractive

Thank you for reaching out — we're sorry to hear you're dealing with fraudulent donations. That's incredibly frustrating.
We've looked into this and it appears these donations are being added via direct cart access (Shopify's cart API), not through the DonateMate widget. Unfortunately, this is a broader Shopify storefront issue where bots can add any product — including donation products — directly to the cart, bypassing all on-page widgets.

This app allowed us to implement a register roundup program at our point of sale & online. The developer was very responsive in helping us get up and running, and responded to our requests for assistance always within 24 hours. We are so happy we found this app!
After searching for months for a donation app that would fit out needs, I came across DonateMate. It was very easy to install and integrate on our POS, but the best part was how user friendly it was on the POS for my staff to use. We are a museum and our staff is not the most computer savvy, so finding something that was easy and stress free for them to use was amazing. Thanks, Ben, for a great and thoughtful product.

I used this app to build a sort of fake Patreon site for a live music venue. In addition to subscriptions, we needed to offer a Pay-What-You-Can feature for those who just wanted to contribute outside of the recurring payments system.
I looked at several PWYC apps and actually installed them all to see how they worked, how they fit into the theme, and what options were available.
Each app had one or two things that I didn't like, so I picked the best among them (DonateMate) and contacted the developer to see if there was any way to change the app to fit my needs.
Not only was this fella super quick to respond, but he held my hand through several changes (this is not my first website, but it is my first Shopify site, and lots of things are not where I expected them). This guy even followed up to make sure that I was happy with the changes and that I didn't need anything else. He's made my Christmas card list.
TLDR: App is pretty solid out of the box but the support is A+ outstanding. Would recommend.

Ben from DonateMate has been phenomenal to work with. First, the app is excellent and helps our small non-profit capture added revenue through ancillary donations made at the checkout process. But then, whenever we have needed support or customization, Ben has been available right away - and, goes above and beyond, helping us think outside of the box and taking our original idea / edit and making it much better. I highly recommend the DonateMate app because of it's functionality, but behind every app needs to be a good person or team - and in this case, the Ben from Australia behind DonateMate is worth partnering with to add this app to your Shopify store experience!
