Shopify tracks inventory per variant, so a 200-unit run must be split across variants before you know what sells. Set one number instead and every variant draws from the same inventory pool. When the cap is hit, the product locks and shows sold out. It counts units from real orders, not your Shopify stock, so the cap holds during a rush and even when inventory is untracked. For limited edition drops, fixed-run editions, made to order, daily production batches, and rentals with duration variants.
