We use Magical Fees in our wine store to handle Hungary’s mandatory bottle deposit (DRS) fee, and after testing several alternatives, this is the app I would recommend to anyone who needs to manage deposits or mandatory product fees in Shopify.

It gives much more control than the other solutions we tried, especially when it comes to applying fees only to selected products and excluding those fees from discounts.

Our setup was quite complex, and we ran into a few edge cases around cart drawer updates, checkout and fulfillment. Jeff was incredibly responsive, understood the problem quickly, and personally worked through every issue until everything was functioning properly.

Excellent app, excellent support, and in my view the best choice for Shopify stores that need reliable deposit fee handling.

Customer service is absolutely unbeatable. Super responsive and to the point. Stephen helped me figure out how to set up the app perfectly in my legacy theme, which involved a small amount of coding on my part. Now the app works the way I want it to (charging US customers for tariffs on Canada on certain goods).
