We were losing UK customers at checkout because the verification code took too long to arrive. Support looked into our account settings and found we were routed through a secondary SMS gateway for European numbers. They switched it to the direct route and response times dropped from 30+ seconds to about 5. Nobody told us there were different routing options — support just found the problem and fixed it.
