We needed a fairly complex customs duty setup for our Shopify store, involving multiple conditions, product classifications, order values, and country-specific rules.
After exploring the available options, I contacted VOL Extra Fees to understand whether the app could support our requirements.
What impressed me most was the responsiveness, technical knowledge, and transparency of the support.
Rather than giving a generic answer or promising that everything was possible, the founder personally reviewed our requirements and explained how the different conditions could potentially be configured using the app's fee rules.
Our situation was particularly challenging because we needed to charge fees based on distinct product classifications rather than individual products or quantities, while also considering order thresholds and compatibility with our existing tax and customs integrations.
The support was refreshingly honest about what could be configured directly and what required additional testing. I especially appreciated that they considered how the fees might affect our existing checkout, tax calculations, and customs documentation rather than focusing only on getting a fee to appear.
We haven't completed the full implementation yet, so I can't comment on the final results. However, the initial support experience has been excellent.

Your requirements are definitely among the more technically interesting cases we've come across. Combining customs duties, HS classifications, order thresholds, country-specific conditions, and existing tax integrations isn't exactly a typical fee setup! 😄

I've always believed that when dealing with complex Shopify requirements, it's better to explain what's technically possible, what needs further investigation, and where the platform has limitations rather than make promises we can't confidently deliver.
