Yoast is great other than whenever i'm typing the descriptions it will sometimes randomly delete or move letters throughout the paragraph.
Thank you for sharing your review. We sincerely appreciate your feedback, though we are sorry to hear about this issue occurring. We certainly understand how seeing letters randomly delete and move around in the app description box would give you pause. Please know that the Yoast SEO app support team is here to help you 24/7 with any app questions or concerns (support@yoast.com).
Since we are not able to reproduce this issue on our test store we sent you a Collaborator Account request so we can take a closer look at your store ourselves. Hopefully, we can quickly identify the issue's cause and resolve it. Thank you for your understanding and for using the Yoast SEO app to optimize your store in search results. We're looking forward to hearing from you.

Unfortunately, this is not related to our app but solely relies on the Shopify charging system and terms: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/your-account/manage-billing/your-invoice/apps#subscriptions
, which apply to all subscription-based apps available in the Shopify App Store. More information about Shopify app charges can also be found in this Shopify help article: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/your-account/manage-billing/your-invoice/apps
As you have uninstalled our app 23 days after the end of the free trial period, Shopify generated an invoice including a charge for our app.
In addition, we'd like to clarify that our app does not have a free version but offers a 14-day free trial period, as you can see in our app listing and when at the check-out page.
We hope this clarifies things, but our team will also reach out to you via email with additional details regarding the charge and dates of your subscription.
Before installing this app, I read the reviews. The common theme amongst the 3-star and lower reviews were issues with theme changes. Our experience wasn't much different.
Let me say the support team has been incredibly responsive to my questions and support requests. If it were simply a matter of the helpfulness of the people at Yoast, we would have kept the app.
Unfortunately though, our custom theme is such that every time we made a change, something kept Yoast from functioning as it should. It became a 'tail wagging the dog' situation that required too much time and effort to manage.
I have Yoast for WordPress and LOVE IT. They definitely know what they're doing with SEO, but unfortunately, it isn't a good fit for my Shopify store.
UPDATE: We'd like to inform you (and anyone reading this review) that as of May 16th, 2023, our app offers the option to be installed without removing conflicting code. As a result, our app does not modify your theme code the same way as before, and though that reduces the benefits of using our app (no Yoast output in the source), it also allows you to use the Yoast SEO analysis options for content optimization regardless if our app is integrated with your theme or not.
Therefore, if you wish you can use our app for content optimization only, without full theme integration.
Thank you for sharing your feedback, we sincerely appreciate it. To your point about the common theme among the 3-star and lower reviews, it’s important to note that almost all eight of those (except for one in April ‘22) were shared in the first 3 months after we launched the app in January '22. This is because after launching the app there were a few issues that our dev team had to address. Since then we have continued working hard to successfully and consistently earn 5-star reviews.
We do understand that there is an issue with our app and the custom theme changes on your store that is taking too much time and effort to manage. We respect your decision that the Yoast SEO for Shopify app is not a good fit for your store, but please keep in mind that we are always developing and improving it. Compatibility with your custom theme changes may be available in the near future. The app's changelog is at: https://developer.yoast.com/changelog/shopify/.
In conclusion, we are really happy to hear that you love using the Yoast SEO app for WordPress! Please reach out to us with any additional questions, we're happy to help.
Be careful using this app. They will still charge you after the 14 day trail. I canceled my subscription and i was still billed 19.00 through shopify. And shopify is no help either.
UPDATE November 30, 2023: For anyone reading along, we would like to clarify that though, in this case, we assisted the merchant right away with their request and resolved the issue via email before this review was left, the review remained.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, though we're sorry to hear about your experience.

As you uninstalled our app two days after the end of the free trial period, Shopify included a charge for it in their invoice, as it identified the app as still in use.
We understand this is simply a confusion related to the billing dates, so our team will soon reach out to you in order to clarify things and help you with this matter.
Lastly, we'd like to clarify that we did not respond earlier to your review, as systemically, Shopify reviews are visible within two days after being submitted.
The app displays that it is safe to uninstall, but please take that with a grain of salt. After going through the theme's files, active Yoast code was found in the following sections*, even after deleting the app:
- password.liquid
- main-product.liquid
- header.liquid
- theme.liquid
- main-article.liquid
- meta-tags.liquid
- yoast-seo.liquid
* the code may be in even more areas than the ones above; perhaps Yoast can indicate where exactly its code is installed so anyone can double-check
It's extremely difficult and time-consumingto remove code from website/theme after deleting the app, leading to massively damaged SEO.
The problem we found: even after deleting Yoast, the code stays in your Theme file, and in our case was still active – pointing at empty data. It seems this app (Yoast) overrides the default Shopify theme code/settings when installed, then does not leave when Yoast is uninstalled. Web crawlers etc. are left reading empty values, which was destroying SEO results/data for the site.
If you have deleted Yoast and found worsened SEO results, make sure that it is not still running in your Theme's code. Contacting Yoast takes up to 24 hours for each response.
Overall, the app works, but after having tried multiple SEO apps, Yoast was the only one that overrode the theme's code and didn't amend the code when uninstalled.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, though we're sorry to read about the experience you had. We understand how troublesome this must have been, so please allow us to address your points and concerns.
Based on the details of your review, we understand that there is/was leftover code in your theme files after removing our app. This usually happens if the app is deleted without completing the two-step process (https://yoast.com/help/remove-yoast-code-from-theme-in-shopify/), which requires first deactivation of the app to remove our code from the theme, and then deletion of the app from the Shopify admin. Or if another (usually SEO-related) app interfered with the removal process.
Fortunately, there is no need for time-consuming manual code removal (which we can do for you if needed) in this case, as this can be easily fixed with a simple reinstallation and uninstallation process.
Here are the next troubleshooting steps to take:
1. Re-install the Yoast SEO app on your site.
2. Instead of "Get a subscription," click on "Remove theme modifications.". Please wait until the process is finished.
3. Click on Go back to Apps and then remove the app again.
Once this is done, the Yoast SEO code should be completely removed from your theme files, but you can always contact us for any clarifications or further assistance if needed.
Regarding our response times, our support team is always here to help, and though sometimes it may take a bit longer to respond, in most cases, our replies are sent within a few hours.
In all cases, we would like to see how we can help further on this matter, so our team will soon reach out via email.
Lastly, we'd like to clarify that we have not responded earlier to your review, as systemically, Shopify reviews are visible two days after being submitted.
Thank you for your feedback and for giving our app a spin. Putting in the effort and then losing your work sucks, we feel you.
Fortunately, part of your work is still there; the product descriptions you have optimized through Yoast SEO have been copied to Shopify and remain even after uninstalling the app.
That being said; we will take your feedback to heart to improve our communication.

Delighted with this app, I don't understand the bad reviews. I have been a user of Yoast SEO on WordPress for years and was waiting for it to be on Shopify. Now I can finally optimise the content as I always have, as SEO Yoast tells you in each article, page or product what elements you need to add to improve SEO. It has more options than the free version of WordPress (which was already more than enough for SEO work). As it should. I would like to add that it does not allow you to analyse the SEO of secondary languages, but this is not Yoast SEO's fault. Shopify doesn't have multi-language as well implemented as WordPress. But I was able to translate the homepage meta-data with Langify. Everything else is well translated with Langify. All in all, I'm happy and I still have a lot of optimisation work ahead of me, as the SEO app I had before in Shopify didn't give me (by far) the amount of guidelines that Yoast SEO does. By the way, the technical support is very attentive, and they solved some small doubts I had. They have only been with Shopify for a short time but it's clear that they're keen to keep improving. 5 stars.
Thank you for your review and the supportive and kind feedback!
We are always happy to know that our app is really helpful with your SEO efforts.
Feel free to reach out to our support team if there is anything else we can help you with!
Don’t uninstall it because code gets stuck in there and then your website doesn’t work. And God forbid no one tells you because they want that money. It’s all about the money.
UPDATE December 11, 2023: For anyone reading along, we would like to clarify that this is not a matter of charges, as the subscription ended at the point when the app deletion was performed by the merchant.
The code issue occurred because the app was not deactivated before being uninstalled/deleted, according to the uninstallation process: https://yoast.com/help/remove-yoast-code-from-theme-in-shopify/
Despite our attempts to assist the merchant on this matter as soon as they contacted us, unfortunately, this was not possible as the store is no longer hosted on Shopify.
Response from December 7, 2023: Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, though we're sorry to hear about the experience you had. We understand how troublesome this must have been, so please allow us to address your points and concerns.
We understand some of our users uninstall the Yoast App using the uninstall button under Apps and Permissions in Shopify settings. This only cancels the app subscription and deletes the app from their store.
This step does not remove the Yoast App theme integration, which makes the app work and leaves leftover code.
This usually happens if the app is deleted without completing the two-step process (https://yoast.com/help/remove-yoast-code-from-theme-in-shopify/), which requires first deactivation of the app to remove our code from the theme, and then deletion of the app from the Shopify admin. The app is good, it solved the problem of dealing with structure data. i want to mention their support team. they have been very patient and professional in giving me instant support and help as I am walked through the installation and setting up of the app. very helpful indeed, much more helpful than i could expect from a shopify plugin.
Thank you for your review and kind feedback!
