Define custom fields to cross reference products, collections, blogs, pages and even link lists. Great for building related products, image galleries, linking a blog post to a product and much much more.
All of the different object types in Shopify (products, collections, pages etc.) have a "Details" page - on these pages you will find an "Apps" button in the menu bar with an entry labeled "Custom Fields". This will show you an editor for that specific object and show you the set of fields, that you defined for the type. You determine the sequence of the fields for each type.
Absolutely. You can export a CSV file with products, collections, pages etc. together with your defined custom fields, edit the file's contents and import it back into your store.
With one exception, all your custom field definitions and values are stored as metafields within your Shopify store. Metafields are an integral part of the Shopify platform and provide secure storage for your data. Images and PDF files, however, are stored on our secure Amazon S3 server and served to yur visitors via a global CloudFront CDN.
Using metafields as the underlying storage for custom fields makes them very easy to integrate into your design theme using plain Liquid. Please see examples on our support page http://accentuate.io.
The app installation requests write access to your store in order to be able to store metafields for the different Shopify objects such as product, collections, pages etc. Rest assured, that Accentuate does not modify or delete anything in your store other than the Shopify metafields we use as the foundation for your custom fields.
