Misleading Performance Guarantees, No Accountability, and Disregard for EU Protections

We joined AdScale after two onboarding calls with Daniel, where we were promised results within 2–3 weeks and a minimum 4× ROAS. Instead, we spent over €2,800 through their platform and saw only one attributed sale — despite using a stable, previously successful ad account with the same products, website, and creatives.

We reported technical issues early in the campaign and received no meaningful response. There was an 11-day gap in communication, even after escalation was promised by their senior team. To this day, those problems remain unresolved.

When we requested a refund, AdScale acknowledged that the service did not meet expectations, but refused to accept any commercial responsibility. They repeatedly cited internal policy and the fact that ad spend was paid to Google/Meta — ignoring the role their system played in mismanaging those funds.

What’s especially concerning is that while AdScale has an office in the Netherlands and clearly targets EU-based customers, they appear to disregard EU commercial law obligations. Instead, they rely on internal policy and the fact that their headquarters are in Israel as a way to sidestep accountability. This use of jurisdictional loopholes to avoid offering refunds or proper redress raises serious concerns.

Many of the 5-star reviews on their platform appear to reflect early onboarding impressions, not long-term outcomes. In contrast, our experience aligns closely with several well-documented negative reviews — poor performance, lack of support, and refusal to take responsibility.

We strongly advise caution. If your campaigns underperform or something goes wrong, you’ll be ignored, and AdScale will offer free platform credits rather than resolving the issue or acknowledging fault. That’s not acceptable for a business-facing tool handling serious ad budgets.

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re sorry to hear that your expectations were not met and appreciate the opportunity to clarify several important points:

1. Performance Expectations & ROAS Claims
AdScale does not promise guaranteed results. During your onboarding, we shared the average ROAS seen by new clients in their first month (around 4×), clearly stating that results vary significantly based on factors such as:
-Product-market fit and pricing
-Website UX and conversion flow
-Competitive landscape
-Creative effectiveness
-Traffic quality and campaign structure

Your campaign ran for only 22 days — a time frame that is generally too short to evaluate performance or allow the platform's optimization algorithms to adapt fully.

2. Technical Issues & Attribution Gaps
You raised concerns regarding reporting discrepancies. These were addressed by our support team, including guidance related to Shopify's updated checkout flow and the importance of placing tracking scripts in the customer events section to ensure accurate attribution.

While certain purchases were not displayed in the AdScale dashboard due to script placement, we demonstrated that conversions occurred and were attributed to your campaigns directly within Google and Meta platforms.

3. Traffic & Optimization
Despite the reporting gap in our dashboard, your ad spend did generate meaningful traffic. Our system uses real-time signals from multiple sources, including Meta conversions and upper-funnel actions like product views and add-to-carts, to drive continuous campaign optimization.

4. Refund Policy & Accountability
We understand your disappointment. However, the ad spend was executed as directed and generated platform-verified results. As such, we did not find a basis for refunding media spend, particularly as the funds were paid directly to Google and Meta. Our internal policy aligns with standard industry practices in this regard.

That said, we regret that your support experience did not meet expectations. Our team followed up and extended platform credits as a gesture of goodwill, and we remain available to resolve any outstanding concerns.

5. Jurisdiction and EU Customer Support
AdScale serves EU-based clients with full respect for applicable commercial law. While our headquarters are in Israel, we operate globally and do not use jurisdiction as a means to avoid responsibility. We strive to be transparent, responsive, and fair in all cases.

6. Reviews and Long-Term Performance
The majority of our 5-star reviews reflect the long-term experience of businesses who use AdScale for months and beyond. While early onboarding feedback is important, sustained results and continued support are at the core of our service.

We hope this clarifies our position. We welcome any further discussion and genuinely wish your business success, whether with us or any future partner.

Sincerely,
The AdScale Team

Misleading Sales Promises, Poor Performance, and Overpriced Contract – Not Worth $3,000/month
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Total waste: 9000$ on 3 month subscription with no value, time and no clear strategy.

We’ve been a client of AdScale for the past two months, and unfortunately, our experience has been extremely disappointing.

Before signing, their sales team assured us—during calls on Zoom or Google Meet—that AdScale would significantly improve our ROAS and campaign performance using AI. They even showcased results from other companies as proof. Their website reinforces these claims, stating they can improve ROAS and other key performance metrics. He said that our cost per purchase in our brand was too high and that their app would help lower our customer acquisition cost. Then he showed examples and performance data from other clients, which we found to be unprofessional and unethical, as it involved sharing confidential store performance information without consent.

However, the reality was far from what was promised.

After signing a $3,000/month contract (which they call a "software + account manager" fee), we quickly discovered that no meaningful optimization was being done. The campaigns they ran were basic, and they didn’t even use the full “Website and Shop” setup in Meta ads—just “Website” only, which is a huge miss for an eCommerce brand. Our ad budget of $8-10k per month was essentially wasted, with no improvement in results compared to managing ads ourselves or hiring a freelancer for $500–$1,000/month.

Don’t rely on what the sales team tells you—read the contract carefully. Or better yet, don’t sign anything at all unless you're 100% sure. What they promise and what they deliver are miles apart.

When we raised concerns after the first month, we were told “it takes time” and that “resources have been allocated,” but those were just empty words. We waited another month, but nothing changed. In fact, our performance actually got worse—especially disappointing since this is our peak season compared to last year.

There are no performance KPIs in the contract. So even if your CPA is terrible or your ads are underperforming, the contract remains active, and you’re still expected to pay $3,000/month while they say, “we have a plan, we’ll do better.” This creates a situation where you’re locked in, paying for poor service, with no accountability on their side.

We initially accepted a three-month term with an early exit window. Now, after two full months of poor performance, we’ve requested to exit early and not pay for the third month—because it’s clear this service is not as advertised and not worth continuing.

I wanted to rate 0 but there no 0 button.

Bottom line: If you’re expecting real strategy, results-driven media buying, and campaign improvements, you won’t find it here. You're better off hiring a competent freelancer or internal media buyer. We feel misled and regret signing this contract.

We're sorry to hear that AdScale did not meet your expectations. While we always strive to deliver strong results and high-quality service, we understand that your experience fell short, and for that, we regret the dissatisfaction.

We’d like to clarify a few important points for transparency:

Campaign Performance:
Your campaigns went live at the end of January and ran for approximately 1.5 months before your cancellation request.
During this time, your ROAS showed gradual improvement—reaching up to your stated goal in the second month, which was comparable to your results during the same period last year. Optimization, especially using AI and platform learning phases (e.g., Meta and Google), typically requires time and 1.5 months is usually not enough to see the full potential of the system.

Account Strategy:
Our account managers—including product analysts and senior team members—were actively involved in your account, meeting regularly to analyze and adjust campaigns. While some recommended changes were not implemented due to concerns you raised on your end, we respected your preferences (even though we thought otherwise).

Sales and Expectations:
We do our best to present realistic expectations based on averages and prior results from similar stores. We never promise guaranteed ROAS, and any examples shown during onboarding are anonymized and used to illustrate possible outcomes. We're sorry if this was interpreted differently.

Contract Terms:
Your contract included a clearly stated three-month commitment, with an early exit clause we honored. This short-term structure is in line with many agencies and reflects the time and resources invested during the early stages of campaign setup and optimization.

We respect your decision to move on and have confirmed the cancellation of your plan after the agreed-upon period. We're always looking to improve, and we take your feedback seriously as part of that process.

Wishing you continued success with your store.

been using for a while now, while its iterface is good, it is very bad in tracking ROAS. Sales which are not even generated from campaign are being reported as sales.
there is no clarity on the sale and its performance.
They tag everything to there pixel and have not logical explanation to this incorrect tracking.

Thank you for your feedback. We’d like to clarify how AdScale’s smart reporting works to ensure accurate ROAS tracking:

Verified Order Tracking – AdScale only attributes orders that are explicitly tracked in Google or Meta. If an order is not found in these platforms, it is not counted in AdScale’s reporting.

Your Pixel Remains Active – Your existing tracking pixels continue to operate normally. AdScale’s unique pixel complements them by precisely identifying which orders came directly from your campaigns.

Clear Attribution – The Orders Tab in AdScale provides full transparency, detailing exactly which orders were attributed to which campaigns. Each order is counted only once, avoiding any duplication across Google and Meta.

Support Outreach – Our support team has reached out multiple times offering to validate your claims and demonstrate that the reported orders were indeed generated from AdScale campaigns. Unfortunately, we have not received a response yet.

We’d love to work with you to resolve any concerns. Please respond to our support team so we can walk you through the data.

I tried this software for the second time. The first time, the results were not what I expected. The second time, Adscale destroyed my entire account. After I installed the app, all my products were duplicated in the merchant account, and the support team was unable to resolve the issue. Additionally, Adscale imported data blindly, including age and a lot of other irrelevant information that had nothing to do with my products.

The results from the AI were also not as good as what I can achieve when I manage it myself. This app will not help grow your business, but it might help destroy it.

Hi,
We are sorry you did not feel the benefit of the app in a short period of 21 days running the ads with our app.
During this short period our campaigns outperformed your existing campaigns and would have continued to generate even better results.

About the feed - AdScale uploads our own set of products which do not interfere in anyway with your products - we mentioned this multiple times.
In no case did we "destroy" your account and your products continued to run with no issues.

Support has contacted you many times to explain the points you raised but you did not answer us. Please answer us so we can resolve this issue.

I've tried it for over six months. My ROI came down to 300% from 500% (when I did it myself). Disappointed.

Thank you for your feedback, we value this and always try to improve.
You should know that AdScale's reporting removes duplicate purchases across multiple channels and can result in lower ROAS vs. what appears in Google & Facebook campaigns directly.
We also have some tips how to improve your results and our support contacted you multiple time - please reach out to us so we can assist in improving your performance.

Tried the app for a month. The AI did not seem to do anything but raise the CPC way higher than it was when I run manual ads.
I got worse results with the app compared to manual ads. Also less exposure for the same money. The interface also is terribly slow and there are some issues with the interface itself. For example you can choose up to 5 videos when making facebook and instagram ads, but adscale only create ads with one of the selected videos. I asked the customer service about this and their answer is that adscale only suports one video per ad set. Then why do they allow you to select five different ones? I tried this app since I was tired of babysitting the ads manager but it was not a solution that worked for me. If you have some knowledge about runing ads you should stay clear of this app.

This app is completely misleading and not worth the amount of access/data you have to provide to them.

We received an unexpected bill for over $1000, despite having a daily budget of $5 per day (or $150 p/month). There is no where on their website that tells you they charge commission.

They clearly state "You'll only pay for sales generated by AdScale" and look at their response to one of their FAQs: "Q: Do you charge me for the advertising costs? - No, the advertising costs are billed directly by Google & Facebook. We only charge you for app fees." (Fees which equal almost $1000!)

We have now cancelled Adscale and are doing just fine without them. You do not need to trust your advertising to a third party that rips you off. To top it all, the sales rep contacted us the next day only to ARGUE with us about how great they are and we couldn't possibly get the same results without them.
Well, Adscale, we are. Don't be fooled! Use Facebook, Google and Instagram adverts yourself!

It's also important to mention that the app fees billed to you were after our app has generated your store $18,561 in sales during your first 30 days, and your overall spend was $1,248 (including the actual app fees).

Our pricing can be found at:
Our website: https://ecom.adscale.com/pricing

Our help center: http://help.adscale.com/adscale-for-ecommerce/how-it-works/how-does-adscale-pricing-work

During the Registration process.

And also on this actual Shopify app page.

It's very unfortunate that you chose to uninstall the app and not continue your campaigns.
We wish you all the best.

Be aware that the AdScale application will claim your Google Merchant Center URL as the Owner. If you have manual ads running already in google, this particular process will cause Google to disable your product feed and thus any ads using your product feed will not perform. This happened to us and we lost 2 full days of revenue. We really had high hopes for the AdScale app since we are at the point where we are growing and need a better way to manage our ads. We hope the AdScale development team considers a different process for how they manage uploading product feed data. They should instead, ask for admin access in order to prevent such issues. This app may indeed work for others, but for us, we did not find any value. The support replies were short and sort of argumentative. MY feedback is that the AdScale R&D team take customer feedback and use it to make improvements.

During the onboarding process it is clearly stated that in order to run Google Shopping a web site claim is needed. You have approved this and this is what happened.
We do offer to connect an existing Merchant account to your Google Shopping and we reached out to you in order to do so.
We have no intention to claim your website during the process - this is the way Google Shopping works.
Please reach out to us in order to get you connected without a claim if you prefer.

DO NOT INSTALL THIS APP. They take control of your Google Console and then remove your ownership. Creating all sorts of problems for your store sales an traffic.

BE VERY CAREFUL and leave this page immediately. Do Not Trust this app (This is the first review I have ever left - and was suggested to by the Shopify Guru I spoke to earlier). I have full record of every conversation and e-mails from Google regading this fraud.

This app SHOULD NOT be on Shopify. It is a disgrace.
