Negate ‑ Bot Protection

We were plagued by high numbers of bots , website cloning and card cycling. After adding Negate, our bot traffic is drastically reduced and analytics making more sense. Any concerns or questions were quickly answered by Taylor. Highly recommend!

This app has been a game changer for us. After months of dealing with completely unreliable data, our analytics finally make sense again.

We were heavily affected by thousands of bots from China, Russia, and Singapore that polluted our analytics for months. Shopify’s built-in human/bot filter did almost nothing to stop this. As a result, not only our analytics but also our Google and Meta pixels were severely contaminated, leading to degraded campaign performance and bad optimization decisions.

Since using this app, all of these issues are fully resolved. The bot traffic is effectively filtered out, our data is clean again, and our tracking pixels are finally reliable. Performance insights are accurate, and decision-making is back on solid ground.

We are extremely happy with this app. It solved a critical problem that Shopify itself could not, and it delivered exactly what it promised.

Negate has been incredibly helpful during a recent bot attack on our site. We were dealing with a large volume of traffic coming from overseas, and their platform made it easy to quickly identify and take action.

We suddenly had a flood of thousands of hits from Ashburn VA (amazon), just camping out. Installing this app shielded our site from this unwanted traffic ... which allowed us to get a clearer sense of traffic flow in light of tests and ongoing campaigns.

I got this app specifically to block payment attempts from card testers. After installing it, I get an email stating this here:

"Can Negate block payment attempts from card testers?
Yes, please use our custom rules for checkout. These are not turned on by default. Be sure to read the documentation on how to turn it on for the first time. Note that an abandoned cart will still be made and it is advisable to pair custom rules for checkout with a shopify flow to then clean out the abandoned checkouts automatically."

None of this is actually true. These abandoned cart bots use a URL which you as a merchant have no control over - you cannot even run any Javascript on this URL or choose what it does - hence the bot blocking apps in the app store offering zero protection against this.

What makes me really mad about this, is that they claim they can. Furthermore I ran a comparison between the bot order attempts and their list and the bots show up as "human".

And when I asked about help with this, they didn't even bother replying.

I uninstalled this app from my Shopify store (drkjewels.com), but I was still charged ₹4,713.

There was no clear warning about billing cycle charges after uninstall, which is very disappointing. I am not using the service anymore, yet I have been billed.

I have already contacted support and requested a refund. Waiting for a proper resolution.

If this is resolved quickly, I will update my review. Otherwise, this is not a good experience for store owners.

So good so far.. we've only had It active a few days but so far it seems to be removing the bot traffic from china. Team have been helpful. Hopefully we can cover the cost over the long term.

Negate has made a HUGE difference in the performance of our ads since we installed it ≈ 18 months ago.

For years, bot-triggered events had been sent back to ad platforms and drowning out legitimate signal with noise, but within days of install we started seeing a *massive* improvement in traffic quality because now only human-triggered events were being passed back to Meta, Google, et al.

I've also been repeatedly impressed by Negate's prompt replies to CS inquiries and the care they've taken in thoroughly researching issues I've brought to their attention in order to provide top-notch customer service.
