Merchants report significant SEO improvements, surpassing larger competitors with enhanced rankings, visibility, and organic traffic. The app offers comprehensive tools like schema markup, image optimization, and meta tag management through a user-friendly interface with "Fix it" buttons. Its AI assistance and structured data optimization are effective. Customer support is praised for being responsive and knowledgeable, providing personalized help via WhatsApp and email, making it a valuable tool for business growth.
I’ve been using this app for a long time and overall it does a decent job. The core functionality works as expected and it has helped me improve my store’s SEO and structure over time.
However, I really dislike the UX practice of hiding important plan limitations and feature availability behind small hover tooltips. In my case, the information that certain options (like the extended breadcrumb features) are only available on a higher plan was not clearly visible in the interface. Because of this, I spent about three hours trying to implement a multi‑level breadcrumb navigation, assuming I was doing something wrong, when in reality the feature simply is not included in my plan and this is only revealed in a tiny hover tooltip.
It’s also important to note that this is not a “set it and forget it” SEO solution. In my case, Webrex was adding structured data fields that I already had in my theme (for example BRAND and similar attributes), which caused duplicate fields in Google’s Rich Results tests. I can still demonstrate these duplicates directly in Google’s testing tools. As a result, my SEO was actually hurt instead of improved, and I had to disable that part of the app.
For a tool that targets professional users, I would expect much clearer in‑app communication about which features are accessible on which plan, without relying on subtle hover hints, and more careful handling of structured data to avoid conflicts with existing theme implementations.
EDIT:
I appreciate the detailed response from the developer.
However, I need to clarify one key point: the organic growth they are referring to is not solely – or even primarily – the result of this app. During the same period, we have been working with an external SEO agency for more than three years, doing continuous, manual, on‑page and technical optimization. Attributing the full traffic increase to Webrex and its basic features is simply not accurate.
I am frankly quite surprised to see Webrex presenting this growth as if it were mainly the outcome of their plugin. While I do believe the app has contributed something, its share in the overall results is much smaller than the long‑term, hands‑on SEO work done by our team and agency.
My original review describes my real experience: confusing UX with key limitations hidden in hover tooltips, and structured data conflicts in my specific setup (for example duplicate BRAND fields in Google Rich Results tests). I can still demonstrate these issues in Google’s own tools, and I stand by every word of the original review.
Right after I contacted support about the breadcrumb feature (and later posted this review), Webrex also offered me a separate “SEO package” for 299 USD, where they would analyse and optimise my store. The report they delivered (apparently generated with an AI tool) contained seriously distorted numbers – for example, it showed roughly 80% fewer products than we actually have. This does not inspire much confidence in the quality or accuracy of that service. I also do not feel comfortable with the fact that the app’s support team is trying to sell additional paid services outside of the official Shopify ecosystem in the same context where I, as a long‑term paying customer, simply asked about one confusing, plan‑locked feature.
So not only did I have to deal with duplicated structured data and confusing UX, I now also have to publicly correct statements that, in my opinion, misrepresent my case and over‑attribute our hard‑earned business results to this app. I find this overall approach quite unprofessional.
Webrex can be a useful add‑on to support day‑to‑day SEO work, but it is not a replacement for a professional SEO agency or ongoing manual optimization. Its role in our results is complementary, not central. Because of these latest interactions, we will be actively looking for an alternative app, and I am updating my rating from 3/5 to 2/5.
Thanks for mentioning in the first line of your review that we did a decent job. However, you mentioned that you dislike the UI/UX for this. First of all, this review contains completely false and incorrect statements, and as the developer we would like to clarify the facts behind this review for transparency.
The user is currently on our Premium plan, but they requested access to features that are only available in the Pro plan and demanded that those features be unlocked completely free of cost.
At Webrex: AI SEO Optimizer, we treat all customers fairly. We cannot grant higher-tier paid features for free, because that would be unfair to other merchants who are legitimately paying for those advanced plans. When our support team politely declined this request, the user chose to leave a 3-star review.
We have complete documentation and chat records showing that the user specifically requested Pro plan features for free, and our support team clearly explained that this is not possible. After this request was declined, the review was posted.
There is another important point that should be considered.
While using our app, the user’s store has experienced significant organic growth, and we even shared the Ahrefs free audit report, showing a +9.7K increase in organic traffic over time. The user has been using our app for over 3 years, and even the last 2-year performance graph clearly shows this growth.
At the same time, the review claims that our app is causing duplicate fields in Google Rich Results. If that were truly the case, search engines would not reward the website with such strong organic growth and improved visibility.
Because of this contradiction, the statement made in the review is misleading and factually incorrect.
We always welcome constructive feedback, and we actively help merchants resolve real issues. However, reviews should reflect accurate technical information and the full context of the situation, rather than claims that do not match the documented support history.
After several emails asking for a clean up script I have been blocked by Webrex. In the meantime, 10 left over pieces of script. A non-discussion response “there app is the best’. No follow up, no clean script.
This is certainly not recommendable.
Installed a different app, clearly updating and showing what it actually does, and support is really available, not just for selling extra features. Advice: do not touch the app, it is only interested in upselling, once done they leave you hanging.
Upgraded to Elite in the first week, standard schemes worked for some not for other products.
As with many other products from the ‘build for shopify’, Shopify support is referring back to the supplier of the app. Resulting in another downgrade of the review.
A completely false review. Your store is very new, and it has only been a few weeks since it went live.
In SEO and structured data implementation, results do not stabilize within the first few weeks. Google needs time to crawl, process, and understand the structured data (schema) before showing consistent results in search.
The standard schemas in our app work automatically based on the product data available in your Shopify store. If some products show results and others do not yet, this usually means Google has not crawled or processed those pages yet, which is completely normal for a new website.
Also, upgrading to the Elite plan does not instantly change Google search behavior. Our app correctly implements the schema according to Google’s structured data guidelines, but when and where Google displays those results is entirely controlled by Google, not by any app.
Because your store is still in its early stage, it is technically incorrect to evaluate SEO performance within just a few weeks. SEO and rich results require time, indexing, and domain trust before they appear consistently.
Used the trail period and then upgraded- this app has optimized SEO i didnt even know were missing, Ive paid professionals in the past to do what this app could. I have some issues with features crashing, but the tech support was very quick to sort it out.
