It works really well – thought out and fast! When dealing with a lot of items, I can't recommend this one enough!
Fast app & the UI so intuitive to navigate. There is also a preview feature to compare existing data vs. the changes so you can clearly see the difference.
Great customer service from Daniel. App is useful to do bulk edits.
Works great! I appreciate the way this app helps me specifically target what to update with excel. The built in shopify update scares me.
I have not found a better app - for the price and the job it does!!
one of the best apps we use, gets us out of a pickle for our large product catalogue and everything is reversible - 100% recommend we've had it 5-6 years now
Works well for us. Intuitive and fast.
Love this App! So easy to use once you learn it.
Very easy to use, makes updating products in bulk really simple
**What worked well:**
* **Intuitive bulk-editor interface**: Picking a tag filter and choosing “Set text to value” is straightforward.
* **Accurate preview and reporting**: The app clearly shows which SKUs you’ve “edited” and gives confirmation messages.
* **General metafield support**: I could bulk-set other custom fields without issue.
**Where it fell short:**
* **Google Shopping fields not updating**: Although the app reported success, the values never appeared in the **Google Shopping – Custom Label 0/1** metafields.
* **Lack of namespace clarity**: It wasn’t obvious whether “Custom Label 0” referred to Shopify metafields or Google-channel fields, leading to confusion.
* **No visible error**: There’s no warning when a write operation silently fails on the `google_shopping.custom_label_*` namespace.
**Suggested improvements:**
1. **Explicit Google-Shopping field mapping**: Clearly label fields with the full namespace (`google_shopping.custom_label_0`) and surface it in the bulk-editor.
2. **Error reporting**: If a write to a Google-channel metafield fails, show an error or flag it in the preview.
3. **Sample verification**: Offer a “Verify in Google channel” step so I can confirm values made it into Merchant Center fields.
I approved the \$30 plan hoping to streamline Google feed prep, but since custom labels didn’t actually update, it wasn’t usable for our biggest use case. If you can address the above points, I’d be happy to give Ablestar another try!
Thank you for taking the time to review the app, we're glad you found the interface intuitive but sorry that you had issues editing the custom labels in Google Shopping.
The Google Shopping fields like custom labels are stored as Shopify metafields and then synced to Google Merchant Center so they might not appear in GMC right away. We looked through our logs and we do see the metafields being written to, both in the edit you mentioned and in the follow up edits you ran over the next couple days.
If you could reply to the email we sent you can we help you figure out why the data isn't being synced between Shopify and GMC to make sure that you're able to manage your feeds as smoothly as possible.
Best,
Daniel and the Ablestar Team
