Calcurates: Accurate Shipping

We have been using Calcurates for about a month now and have been extremely pleased with the app for our shipping. We have had issues in the past with our shipping because we have multiple variations (primarily frozen and not, as well as odd package sizes). Nik at Calurates was patient and knowledgable in working out are configurations. We had been through at least four different shipping programs prior to this and were very happy to find someone who could work through the issues. This app is well worth exploring . You will be happy you looked into it!

Fantastic app. Meets all our needs, where tons of other apps failed previously. Customer care is second to none, even working over the holidays to accommodate us. They offer to set up the app for you or go over the settings to get you going. After several years looking for the perfect shipping app I'm confident we've found it!

Replaced another very well known app to calculate shipping rates and qualify addresses for residential/ commercial in Shopify store. Calcurates app had simpler to modify programming and cheaper monthly rates. Highly recommend their offer to setup initial rates with their professional support. Would not have been able to do it on my own. As it was their program did not support Shopify's meta fields to get proper rates especially on products with variants. Our store was essentially down for a day, but Calcurates worked hard on their end with their programmers to fix their program. Their support cared about us and was responsive considering the deadline. I wish the problem would not have happened, but they worked hard to correct it and now everything works great.

We wish we would of found out about this app sooner! It's perfect for our complicated shipping scenarios and has much more customization than the app we were previously using. Setup was a breeze as it was mostly handled for us by the Calcurates team (thanks Nik!).

Calculates allows for very nice complex shipping options based on table rates, rules and order variables. We've used other app by Amasty before on Magento and were overall impressed with the level of configuration available. My main issues with this app is the rather poor Shopify integration. I can see the same platform is used for Magento. For Shopify, only ONE admin user (the installer) can access the rates and configure the app. App support recommended I give my admin password to other staff. Big no no and not what I'd expect from a professional charging app. Shopify user ID tokens are not used by this app when they really should be. I've never come across this before. Secondly, product attributes to create product segments are pretty useless. You get to segment products based on...Vendor. That's it. You can forget about product tags or even Product Type which is pretty fundamental in most Shopify apps. I'm sure Magento users are swimming in attributes to select. Thankfully SKUs are available but they're not ideal if you have a large catalogue of dynamic products to segment. I feel overall this is a very versatile Magento-targeted app with high aspirations for Shopify. It just seems to needs more love and consideration for Shopify merchants. We're going to use the app and I'll review my rating - maybe even update our tier - if features progress for Shopify, but I suspect these rather fundamental app quirks aren't a priority. Time will tell.

App says it handles Volumetric Weights. Not an accurate statement. There's no actual connection to products for volumetric weights. And I didn't find that out till after I hit the "subscribe" button. Very dissapointed!

Using metafields is a poor workaround. Other shipping calculator apps in the Shopify app store have the ability to calculate dimensions baked into their app. Yours doesn’t provide that feature. You should have a way to setup dim weights – or not advertise that your app has a volumetric feature.
