REPEATED BUGS, POOR IMPLEMENTATION, AND CRITICAL TRACKING FAILURE — DISAPPOINTING

Update (June 2025): This review replaces our original 5-star rating from December. We are now downgrading our rating due to a series of unresolved issues, misleading support communication, and the discovery of serious flaws that impacted both performance and analytics integrity.

We’ve used Hulk Wishlist for over 6 months on a Shopify store and encountered a disturbing mix of bugs, bloated scripts, and tracking interference — all of which remained undiagnosed or ignored by support for months.

New and critical discovery: Hidden script injections caused tracking breakdowns

Contrary to what Hulk’s support claimed, the app does inject both the Meta Pixel and Google Analytics tags if you enter them in the app’s settings.

After weeks of unexplained duplicates in our analytics and debugging every part of our Tag Manager setup, we finally traced the issue back to Hulk’s hidden tracking injection — which was overriding our TagFly/GTM setup and breaking proper consent management.

Once we removed the IDs from the Hulk settings, all duplicate events disappeared instantly, and:
• Our mobile and desktop Lighthouse scores jumped by over 10 points
• Our page load times improved
• Our event tracking returned to normal
• We realized we had uninstalled multiple unrelated apps in the process — wrongly suspected due to Hulk’s silent interference

This is not only unacceptable from a technical standpoint — it’s a massive waste of time, and it undermines trust in the app. Either support was not informed, or they deliberately avoided acknowledging the root cause. In both cases, it’s not serious.

Summary of persistent problems:
• Wishlist hearts appear above full-screen menus — bad z-index management, still not fixed.
• No wishlist counter displayed on product thumbnails anymore, although it used to be there.
• No admin control over when and where the script loads.
• Core functionality like wishlist buttons randomly fail to load.
• The script loads on every page, even irrelevant ones like cart/policy pages, increasing bloat.
• add_to_wishlist tracking is unreliable or blocked entirely when JS errors occur.
• Layout shifts (CLS) caused by the app still penalize SEO and UX.

Support: Quick to reply, unhelpful in substance

Hulk’s team replies quickly, but the answers are often off-topic or non-technical. It took days to escalate the malformed document.write() bug, and the latest tracking issue (which should have been documented and warned about) went completely undetected for months.

Timeline of failures (Nov 2024 – Jun 2025):
• Nov 2024 – Wishlist script bloats all pages unnecessarily.
 → Custom metafield workaround added by us. Still not fixed
• Dec–Jan – Wishlist button fails to load on some product pages.
 → Unstable and unresolved
• Jan – GTM tracking starts failing.
 → Root cause (Hulk script) undiagnosed until June
• Mar – Wishlist counters on product images disappear.
 → Still missing
• Apr – Inconsistent triggering of add_to_wishlist events.
 → Still unreliable
• June – Critical JS error discovered (document.write() with invalid HTML)
 → Breaks all downstream scripts (GTM, Meta, Pinterest, analytics).
 → Still not fixed 7+ days after report
• Ongoing – Wishlist icons appear above navigation menus.
 → Still broken

Final word:

We expected far more reliability, transparency, and control from an app claiming Shopify Plus compatibility. This situation has damaged our ad attribution, slowed down our site, and wasted dozens of hours chasing bugs the app introduced.

Unless we see immediate fixes and proper communication from Hulk, we will be uninstalling the app.

Do not use this app if you rely on accurate analytics, clean code, or performance.

Easy to implement and personalise to your store. We had a few issues with wishlist capacity but resolved very quickly

I trusted someone from Hulk Advanced Wishlist to install the app on my website (after they offered). I thought it would be a simple process, as it's just someone installing the app, how hard can it be?

It took them just 5 minutes to wreck my cart and login button trying to place their icon on my website. Not only did it look awful (icons all over the place), they also somehow managed to change the size of my cart icon so it's now pixelated.

No big issue, I thought, I'd just ask them to remove the code and put it back. We're now a month along trying to have that happen and Hulk Advanced Wishlist has done nothing to rectify the situation. I've had to send multiple emails and even speak to Shopify, and still nothing.

DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY to install their own app on your website. I can't believe I am typing this. But there we go.

I'll update this when the saga is finally over.

The app is fine so far. I just have the cheapest tier so I also have the fewest features. It does the basics which is what I'm paying for so no complaints about the actual app. It is a bummer how limited I am with automations and Shopify Flow integrations though. It looks like you have to upgrade to get access to those.

My Shopify theme has a lot of customizations so I basically couldn't set anything up myself, which honestly I expected and is neither here nor there. Why I only gave it 4 stars is because while everyone I spoke to was friendly and helpful while we were speaking, it took quite a bit to actually get a response and then get the work done that I requested. Customer service chat was great, and the only way I was able to get anything done. It's just there were a lot of unanswered emails and waiting for responses before I finally decided to turn to chat is all, which was a little frustrating.

This app is useful and easy to set up. Customisations are possible. The support is quick to respond, and very helpful. The staff who assist me was really willing to help and was quick to solve the problem.
