I installed this expecting another cost field. What I got is a ledger — every price I pay written once and kept permanently. So March's margin still reads as March's margin when I look in September.
The freight and duty allocation alone was worth the price. HS code in, real rate out, landed in that receipt's unit cost. Replaced a spreadsheet I'd kept badly for two years.
What won me over: I refunded an order without restocking, and it showed me a worse margin, with a line explaining the stock was paid for, refunded and gone. Most tools would quietly delete the sale and flatter me.
It's honest about limits too — it won't invent an exchange rate for a foreign invoice, and says so.
Not for you if you sell consignment or one-of-a-kind stock; it assumes you own what you sell.
I've stopped keeping a parallel spreadsheet.
Thank you for taking the time to write this.
You've picked out the two decisions that were hardest to make. The refund one especially — it would have been simpler to drop the sale and show a cleaner number, but you paid for that stock and it left, so no report should pretend otherwise.
And you're right about consignment. The app assumes you own what you sell, and it's better to say so than to quietly get it wrong.
If you hit something it won't answer, write to me directly.
