I love send owl because of its ease of use. you need no technical background to set it up. it also allows us to import thousands of license keys at once and automatically delivers our downloads and licenses. its a great product especially for the entry cost.

I don't ever leave reviews, but I am very disappointed in the app and even more disappointed in the customer service. There is a page within the app that states there are unlimited downloads. I based my whole store around this and paid my assistant to set up my store using this app. Well come to find out, they don't actually offer unlimited downloads. When I contacted customer service I was given the run around and told that no where on their site do they advertise this (essentially implying that because it's not advertised this way, the incorrect wording within the app shouldn't matter). Super disappointed, but even more upset by the response. Sorry, but don't say you have something and then treat your customers in a dismissive way when they ask where the feature is. Will be removing every bit of my store because I'm not giving money to an app that falsely advertises and then tells me it's my fault for actually reading about the features they falsely claim to have.

Super disappointed. Signed up so I could get the free plan thinking it was a pay-as-you-go option since that's what's indicated on this page but in my SendOwl admin, there was something about how it was estimated that I was going to owe $15/month. I emailed Support and the response I got was that the email associated with the plan I signed up for the "Shopify-Only Growth Plan." SendOwl support referred me to this specific Shopify page about their app that clearly indicates that there's a "free" option and the next level up is Standard ($9/month), Growth ($15/month), and Custom ($89/month). I didn't sign up for the Growth plan. I wanted the free/pay-as-you-go plan. There appears to be no way for me to change this. Support didn’t even try to help me figure that out. Super disappointed. I feel like I was offered one service and given something and told it was more expensive though I didn't okay that. I have no clue if this app works or how well it does. I have found a less expensive option to do what I want that I’m already paying for but had hoped SendOwl would be an option that might work for my business.

Great app that allows my clients to download their digital resources. The app makes it easy to upload files on my end and it makes it easy for my clients to download their files. It also automatically marks off the orders as fulfil with a note that the document has been fulfilled by SendOwl. Thank you for the great app

It has been a week since I launched my Shopify store where I sell my ebooks. This is my first online store and I was preparing myself for possible trouble, but thanks to SendOwl I have been making sales without any issues or complaints so far! SendOwl is simple to use, yet has a lot of amazing features I could use for my business. My target customers are not English speakers but the email templates can be customized and translated to their language and it works just fine. The stamping feature gives me a sense of assurance, too. I highly recommend SendOwl to anyone who is planning to bring their digital products out there.

Overall it's a good app. Customer support is great if you ever need to reach out. Uploading is easy and smooth. If you are attaching your videos into your shopify products you first create the product in shopify and then link the product to the uploaded video in sendowl. The "button codes" don't apply to shopify. With sendowl you get paid within a couple of days unlike vimeo who only pays out once per month via paypal. There are also no additional fees, only the monthly subscription. The reason for the four stars is that your monthly GB usage does not roll over or start fresh. It's an overall accumulation. I do videos daily so I never stay within the monthly GB usage. I do believe Paul told me it's an additional 20 cents for every T overage. I can't remember exactly the amount so you want to ask before your trial is over. One last note if you choose not to link your video to your shopify store, sendowl's area to place a description of your videos does not do paragraphs or breaks in between the information. You need to use html format for the separations. I will stay with this app because it's a good app. I like the ease of uploading, can use it without adding to my shopify store, can add an image and a description, and the quick payouts.

Literally the worst app ever. But even worse than the app is the customer service. They often have massive outages, do not communicate the outages and then will not return word on customer service issues. Find another digital file delivery application. The only thing they know how to do properly is take payment

I used this app to help me deliver my ebooks and it works but it comes with a few kinks and intricate complications. For instance, when customers go to download from their email, they should be able to immediately download and not receive another long link to download from. The process for the customer to receive their product should be seamless but it isn't so much so. I wasn't aware of this process until I acted as a customer of my own store to see how the process was going. It wasn't that great to me.

SendOwl is working great so far, setup was easy and it does what it's supposed to. Recommended ! I would love if you would add a cheaper plan in the future. Thanks!

This is a great app. Their customer support is awesome and they reply super fast. Paul is always very helpful. The user interface is very nice.

This app advertises 30 day free trial then 9.99/mo but in my reality, they gave me 1 free day trial then $15/mo. I'm selling only one ebook.

Ive been using this app for a few weeks and I find it extremely good. Find it strange that one person wrote that the customer service was poor, of all the apps I've used, SendOwl's customer service was 1st class, I had a couple of minor teething problems due to mistakes I had made and Paul from SendOwl was back in touch literally within hours and was brilliant support. Absolutely highly recommend this app for selling downloads.

The app works well but support seems to be non-existent. I wrote SendOwl through their "contact us" section a few days ago and have never heard back. I have customers telling me (after I sent out an update to my digital download with an automatic update notice from SendOwl) that they're getting messages stating the "website isn't safe". Tried contacting SendOwl to see why my customers would get these notices and I've never heard back. The app is great but support doesn't seem to be there.

I use this app to sell software keys. It works great for all the needs I have. At $9 a month it is a little expensive for how little I use it but it works without a problem!

If you want to add subscriptions to your shopify you will need to be able to understand coding. I contacted help desk and they couldn't help me so I just used the paypal subscription button. Works so much easier

Terrible experience.
The response from Paul at SendOwl was fine....
But the App is extremely limited....in that I could not set it up for more than one format (i.e., either landscape or portrait).
When Paul offered me the opportunity to open a second account at a 50% discount ...just to get the 2nd format -- I took advantage of that ....
but only found out that the SendOwl app account only connects to ONE Shopify store ... which was crazy and cumbersome. If all your files are in one format ...this might be a viable option for you. But it did not work for me and the SHopify gurus who sent me to SendOwl did not know of its limitations....

We are not happy about the experience we had.
First of all, be careful Sendowl is changing a lot of liquids and after de-installation, you have to release it manually. It took a couple of hours to find out where they change the scripts.
Finally, for our purpose, it was not usable. Especially, the checkout and the subs page are dominated with the big owl. No CI possible. etc.
Also, we think that the bypassing of the checkout procedure of Shopify is not confirm to Shopify rules.
So we decide to use another system selling for movie subs.

I use this app to charge people to view my videos, love this app!
It sends a link directly to the customers email,after they have paid, they can play the video 10x then the link expires!

Works as described. I use it to automate stamping PDFs and sending them to customers. Works well within shopify.

I use this app to send clients links to private files and it is perfect. Easy to use, integrates nicely with Shopify. Once a product is setup, I don't have to think about it anymore, SendOwl does the rest. Highly recommend.

I sell Cross-stitching designs as pdf downloads, so it's only about digital goods for me.

With SendOwl, i can attach two pdf - one for black&white printers and one for colour printers, to each product. The customers can download it right after purchasing or by clicking on links on their purchase email.

One of the best decisions I've made for my business. So frickin easy to use and better yet, the customer support is on point and always so available and super fast responses. I use this app to sell bundle packages and their monthly price is way more than reasonable. Just $9. Love this app and look forward to them upgrading features and getting bigger and bigger.

Though my experience began somewhat poorly, it has gotten markedly better. Customer service is very responsive and helpful. The online documentation isn't always clear, but I've been able to resolve most of the issues that I previously had. Also, SendOwl still balances content protection with ease-of-use better than other apps.

Great app, works very well and customers find it easy to use as well (huge plus.) I love the control it gives me over the files. Being an artist, I do wish they allowed more than 100 files under the less-expensive plan though.

FYI to the developers: there is a compatibility issue with the Coopt app (where the customer gets an instant 5% refund if they share their purchase on Facebook, and SendOwl saw "refund = a cancellation of the download" - so that customers then could not download what they just purchased) but I don't know which software is to blame for it: SendOwl, Coopt, or Shopify itself. Thankfully I was able to find another solution instead of Coopt anyway.

Choosing a digital download app was the thing putting me off launching my store for the longest time. Am glad I chose SendOwl. So easy to set up and has worked without a hitch. Great, friendly service as well......

I was using a different Digital File Delivery App for around 12 months before switching to SendOwl.
The switch cost me around $5 more per month, but the additional features it gave me was incredible. It's a very versatile App, very reliable, and extremely professional. You can customize the file download page which is awesome, and the ability to assign License Keys is also a big plus for me.

UPDATE1. Warning. I have only about 2000 products, maybe closer to 2500, and Send Owl has a warning built into their software saying they can't load my "large" number of products into their dashboard so I tragically can't use the dashboard. It says I have to use the pull down dot dot dot apps function within Shopify alone. Big bummer. Not going well so far. I wonder if I will be able to even do Drips without dashboard access? DRIPs r only reason I am interested in this app.

UPDATE2. So working on single product level within Shopify, good news is that selecting Send Owl app in Shopify on the single product level does successfully launch you back into Send Owl app dashboard with that singular product identified and selected. Good news also that Drip is available along this path. Bad news is that the Drip file DELIVER is absolutely not working. It is basically inert. Says no matches found. No indication whatsoever as to how to attach a digital file and it really does appear to be non functional. I work strictly over my smartphone in Android environment as I despise Windows. I have already checked "request desktop site" in Android Chrome browser but no dice. Am heading to local shop to get on a desktop to do the exact same thing on Windows to see if it works there and thus see if Send Owl just isn't up to snuff in Android environment.

UPDATE3: So here I am now, sitting in front of a desktop computer running Windoze. And the same "inert" Drip DELIVER functionality is present, so I conclude it's definitely not an Android operating problem, seeing that the same problem exists in Windoze. And then I find this bombshell under DRIP online help instructions at SendOwl:

While SendOwl links to your Shopify account to help you sell and securely deliver digital products, bundles, software and much more, we are not able to integrate our ‘File Access’ or ‘Drip’ subscriptions with the Shopify checkout process.

>>>Egads. Sigh. So disappointing. This is obviously a very high quality product as long as your parameters fit within THEIR parameters. And their parameters are fairly wide, better than any other Shopify app I know of with regards to digital downloads. But unfortunately, if you want to do DRIPS, it's just not going to work within the Shopify environment. Which shocks me, seeing as it seems like this is designed to be a Shopify-friendly app. I'm keeping the 1-star rating because, for me, without the DRIP functionality available as a Shopify-centric merchant, this app is not valuable to me. It is doubtless valuable to others but make sure it will do for you what you expect/want it do as it's not a given, obviously. That's what free trials are for, clearly. And reviews.

PS Basically, Shopify's Digital Downloads is offering to me for FREE what SendOwl wants to charge astronomical monthly sums. We've been using Digital Downloads for 2+ years and it works flawlessly for simple 1-time digital downloads associated with single product purchases. Don't see the need for SENDOWL with this limitation that they bury deeply in their DRIP help files.

UPDATE4. Looked at Fetch, have message into them as to whether they can do anything similar to DRIP on Shopify. Waiting to hear back from them but see no evidence on their website that they have a DRIP-like function. However, a combination of CHARGERABBIT and SKYPILOT (both from the same developer, they're designed to be companion apps) looks VERY promising to accomplish DRIP-like functionality ON SHOPIFY. Will update as soon as I know more. I've got messages into them as well. And no, I don't work for CHARGERABBIT/SKYPILOT, I'm just a Shopify merchant looking for solutions for Shopify merchants and sharing what I find. I do tons of reviews here on Shopify, always evenhanded and straightforward and FAIR.

UPDATE5. So after writing this review Send Owl finally contacts me. So it is clear that Send Owl does NOT use the Shopify checkout process which is why its DRIP function doesn't work on Shopify. This also means that Send Owl does NOT update the Shopify order register when an order is placed. Instead, Send Owl only updates the Send Owl order register since this is where the order actually transacts. This is a HUGE problem if u r running an affiliate program like LeadDyno that MUST have all of ur orders registering in Shopify in order for ur affiliates to get correctly and fully paid for their sales. Or any other app dependent on the Shopify order register actually registering your orders as a Shopify merchant. Charge Rabbit, unlike Send Owl, has already indicated to me that they DO register their orders under the Shopify orders register so I am going to try Charge Rabbit. Send Owl says they may or may not improve Send Owl to register orders in the Shopify orders register. I can't wait for this possible but not promised indefinite date improvement. It's a deal killer for me. Easy call. 1-star still.

UPDATE6:

George and company in Feb of 2017 did eventually make the DRIP process register in the Shopify order register. That should, in theory, cause apps like LeadDyno to pick up those DRIP transactions to pay affiliates. And help any app like LeadDyno that relies on the Shopify order register to work properly.

I looked at it briefly at the end of my free trial and it looked good on paper. But I've yet to try it out in the real word yet cuz I'm not ready to start the paid sub yet.

I may eventually upgrade to 5 stars, but for now, raised from 1 star to 4 stars.

Unscrupulous seller is the first word that comes in mind. Recently I decided to cancel their service because I will not be using it anymore. I asked for a refubd because they charge in advance but they tell me I do not get a refund because I had orders for 1 day. They are charging me $49 for 1 day. You tell me what kind of developer this is.

You want automatic digital delivery? Go with fetchapp they don't charge you per item like SendOwl. They charge you for storage space which means you can have many items with licenses for free.

I was a SendOwl customer for almost 2 years and I got repaid for that loyalty by getting charged $49 for one day. Do yourself a favor and get another app.

Works great, not experienced any problems so far. And plans cost a reasonable amount of money per month.
Its fully automatic, and my customers receive their digital product key instantly after payment!

We love this app. Our store sells Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator files, and SendOwl is able to handle them with no problem. I would definitely recommend SendOwl for all of your digital products.

Excellent app, especially the pdf stamping feature!

Brilliant app, was the main reason I moved from Bigcommerce to Shopify. The stamping and securing of PDF's and speed and ease of delivery are fantastic features.

Good: compared to what's out there it's pretty good.

Bad: when selling videos be warned that the thumbnail your customers will see when streaming is the very first image of your video. Sendowl have said they won't be changing this... How hard can it be to give us the choice of selecting a thumbnail for a video??

Bad 2: when selling videos be warned that the expand icon in the top right hand corner of the video when streaming is white. So if the background of your video is also white your customers won't be able to see the icon and won't expand... Again, seriously? How hard can our be to change the icon to a more customer friendly one??? Sendowl have said they won't be changing it...

So overall the customer service had been very poor... Shame because the app has potential but it needs to be at the top of its game to be the best and it still has some way to go before it gets there...

Makes selling digital downloads so easy! Reliable sends and easy to figure out, even for a "non-technical" person such as myself.

It took me a while to make the switch from a former app to SendOwl but I haven't regretted it for a second. Sendowl offers me everything I need. Pdf-stamping, free orders, the possibility to combine automatic delivery of the digital goods and the fulfillment of our paper products and fabric by our warehouse partner and I like seeing reports of our digital sales.

Great app that allowed us to have our order fulfillment be automated digitally. App is really straight forward to setup and use. Thanks SendOwl for sharing this with all Shopify users.
