What's Inside That Excel File?

You will find the following data as separate sheets in your exported Excel file:

  • Products

  • Smart Collections

  • Custom Collections

  • Customers

Use the same file with column and sheet names to create an import file.

Delete the Sheets or Columns you don't want to import.

Get Detailed Feedback After Import

  • After Import is complete - download the "Import Results" file and see what happened to your import by each row -
Results columns will be added at the end of your data columns.

  • See which items were created New, which were Updated, and which Failed.

  • If there was an error, the comment column will tell the exact error reason, which helps you to get your data
    right.

Export > Import > Update

Products

  • Standard fields: ID, Handle, Title, Body (HTML), Vendor, Type, Tags, Published

  • Just for you: Template Suffix

  • Image fields: Image Src, Image Position

  • Variant Options: Option1 Name, Option2 Name, Option2 Value, Option3 Name, Option3 Value

  • Variants: Variant ID, Variant Position, Variant SKU, Variant Grams, Variant Inventory Tracker, Variant
Inventory Qty, Variant Inventory Policy, Variant Fulfillment Service, Variant Price, Variant Compare At Price,
Variant Requires Shipping, Variant Taxable, Variant Barcode, Variant Image, Variant Weight Unit

  • Metafields: If field name starts with "Metafield:", then what follows, is treated as Metafield key. Cell
values are Metafield values. SEO Metafields: "Metafield: description_tag", "Metafield: title_tag".

To import several images and variants, just repeat the row with the same ID or Handle.

No need to have empty cells for repeated rows, they can contain just duplicated data.

Shopify exported CSV file, pasted to Excel "Products" Sheet, can be imported as it is without any changes.

When creating new Products with Import, leave "ID" and "Variant ID" fields blank.

Smart Collections

  • Standard fields: ID, Handle, Title, Must Match, Sort Order, Template Suffix, Published, Published Scope,
    Body (HTML), Image Src

  • Rules: Rule: Product Column, Rule: Relation, Rule: Condition

  • Exported only: Updated At, Published At

  • Metafields: If field name starts with "Metafield:", then what follows, is treated as Metafield key. Cell
values are Metafield values. SEO Metafields: "Metafield: description_tag", "Metafield: title_tag".

You can have the Rules defined like in those examples:

  • [Title] [Contains] "t-shirt"

  • [Variant Price] [Less Than] "100"

  • [Tag] [Not Contains] "Discount"

  • ... and so on

To import several rules for each Smart Collection, just repeat the row with the same ID or Handle, and set the Rule
values.

When creating new Smart Collections with Import, leave "ID" field blank.

Custom Collections

  • Standard fields: ID, Handle, Title, Sort Order, Template Suffix, Published, Published Scope, Body (HTML),
    Image Src

  • Linked Product fields: Product: ID, Product: Position

  • Exported only: Updated At, Published At

  • Metafields: If field name starts with "Metafield:", then what follows, is treated as Metafield key. Cell
values are Metafield values. SEO Metafields: "Metafield: description_tag", "Metafield: title_tag".

When creating new Custom Collections with Import, leave "ID" field blank.

Customers

  • Standard fields: ID, Email, First Name, Last Name, Phone, State, Accepts Marketing, Note, Verified Email,
    Tax Exempt, Tags, Multipass Identifier

  • Address fields: Address ID, Address First Name, Address Last Name, Address Phone, Address Company,
Address Line 1, Address Line 2, Address City, Address Province, Address Province Code, Address Country,
Address Country Code, Address Zip, Address Is Default

  • Exported only: Created At, Updated At, Total Spent, Total Orders, Last Order Name, Account Activation URL

  • Imported only: Send Account Activation Email, Send Welcome Email, Password

  • Metafields: If field name starts with "Metafield:", then what follows, is treated as Metafield key. Cell
    values are Metafield values.

In the export each customer has its primary First/Last name and Phone, and each address has their own First/Last
Name and Phone - for delivery purposes. All this data is exported and imported exactly as you see it in Admin.

If Client will have several addresses, all those will be exported, each address in new Excel row. The same principle
can be used to import Customers with several addresses, keeping the Email field as the unique Customer identifier
(the same as Handle for Products).

When creating new Customers with Import, leave "ID" and "Address ID" fields blank.

Saved hours of work and headaches with this one App. Makes mass updates, changes to multiple areas of your store. I was using the Shopify export which is is ok, but this makes it a breeze. No more corrupting data:). Also, the support from Maris is solid! Highly recommended.

This app is what our company have been using ever since we started adding our items. If you're like us who needs to update your items from a different website to Shopify every single day, then this app is what's best for you. They have an Export and Import function that's very easy to use and the developer is very helpful in solving issues that we have. Give it a try and see for yourself. Highly recommended.

Great app. And the developer was very helpful, adding a new feature to import and export metadata for collections. I couldn't find this feature with any other app, so was delighted when the developer adapted the app for my needs. Otherwise I would have had to upload this data manually to 1,000 of collections. A great app and a really helpful and accommodating developer. Would recommend to anyone.
