After trying some other apps and possibilities, I finally came to Consentmo and found what I was looking for. The app is well done, tons of features and options and I don't think something is missing there. Additionally the app is fully integrated into Shopify, uses Shopify API which results in a clean integration.
During the setup I had a quick question and got a very quick and helpful answer from their support. They are really quick and helpful.
I can fully recommend it !

This is the only app that we could find which actually comes close to being GDPR compliant. But we shouldn't even have to resort to searching for apps to provide a feature that is a legal requirement of any shop operating in or selling to the EU. It should be a part of Shopify's core feature set, not an extra app. This app developer is capitalizing on this. If you agree, add your voice to the community discussion here: https://bit.ly/31bNfJ3 The payment tiers for this app are unrealistic. The free plan is limited to 10k page views per month. We easily surpassed that in 3 days and we are a small online shop. The Standard tier is 10k-30k page visits/mo. I can't imagine there are many shops that fall into that narrow bracket. So we had to go with Pro which supports over 30k views per month. It's unfortunate that we have to pay $9 a month for something every business owner hates, and most Internet users don't care about.

We appreciate your input and thank you for the fact that you noticed our efforts in making our app actually GDPR compliant. We'll soon release some more features that are required by the law but not yet mandatory. We follow all changes closely which makes this app the best.
Regarding your point for this being a core functionality, we agree with you and we will check the uplisted topic in the forum.
Regarding the plans, this was the only way for us to handle all of the requests that we received on each page load that the app shows on. We followed the data for months before making the limits and we believe that these prices fit the best the usage that we see. We can do another evaluation in order to see if the same can be changed based on the new data, however the server support for an app of this rank can not be done on free servers, hence the need for the plans. We also spent a lot of time working to have the most features and be the most compliant in the market which also takes a lot of recourses. I hope this makes sense.

I liked this app from among so many of them because it's quite easy to configure, UX is appealing and most importantly , has well defined GDPR pages with total transparency and honesty. Good job done!

Ich bin nicht mehr so zufrieden! 1) wenn man über den gebuchten Plan kommt (also die Anzahl an pageviews die man gebucht) drehen sie einfach das Cookie Banner ab! War bei mir jetzt sogar der Fall ohne dass ich über den Plan kam, wegen einem Update-Fehler bei Ihnen. Zack, weg ist das Cookie Banner, ohne das man rechtzeitig benachrichtigt wird!! Sie schreiben eine Email 3 Stunden nachdem das Cookie Banner bereits abgedreht ist! Der Horror!! Und wenn man die Email nicht sofort liest und bearbeitet, tja dann ist der Shop mal ein paar Tage ohne Cookie Banner!! Da kann einen heute jeder verklagen !! Man ist ja selbst nicht ständig auf der eigenen Homepage...Warum man da nicht automatisch in den nächstgrößere Plan stuft, versteh ich nicht! Für mich ein KO Kriterium!
2) ich musste sehr viel custom code in die App reinpacken, und tagelang mit dem Support hin und herschreiben bis der Code endlich gepasst hat, damit die Cookie Box auf allen verschiedenen Geräten richtig angezeigt wird! Mal waren die Buttons nicht zu sehen, mal der Header nicht, echt anstrengend, alle Displaygrößen der Kunden durchzugehen. Hätte ich mir automatisch gewünscht, war viel Arbeit. Fällt einem wahrscheinlich gar nicht auf, wenn man nicht alle Displaygrößen der Kunden mal durchgeht (zbsp. mit der Google Chrome Erweiterung "Resolution Test Option") und testet..
3) Der Support war hilfreich und freundlich. Früher gab es den schnellen Live Chat, jetzt nur noch email.

We have an opened communication with your in our support and we explained the situation there in details. Since you are no longer replying to us, we will post it here as well.
In regard to the consent bar not showing, there was not a general issue with the app in the last days, that caused the consent bar to not show for everyone. If there was an issue, we would address it as quickly as possible so that it won't affect the merchants of the stores. I believe that there is a slight misunderstanding and the consent bar was not turned off automatically in your store, since you did not reach your quota limit. Even if you did, as we have mentioned, you will be notified by email and within the app settings, that you have reached the limit.

Nicely working App. Didn't had issues installing nor adapting. Only downside is, that I'm not quite sure if there are changes to be made in order to be conform tothe DSGVO e.g the initial state of the consent bar. Is there something I need to change?

Yes, for the initial state of the consent bar we would advise you to block all cookies by default. Here is how you can do that:
1. Navigate to the Cookie Consent Bar tab
2. Locate the Initial State Of The Cookie Consent Bar option and select the following: https://www.screencast.com/t/qmXJ0xO0qb then click Save.
This way the website visitor will need to consciously select the cookies they will opt-in for.
