WHAT a brilliant company and app!
"did you know Mechanic can do this out of the box without any custom API coding? Click here…” I am using Mechanic to do tasks that I previously used Integromat to accomplish, but using Mechanic is faster, cheaper and arguably better since it is tightly integrated with Shopify. Tasks such as:
1. Capture order payment upon fulfillment
Upon the fulfillment of an authorized or partially paid order, this task attempts to capture all open authorized payments for that order. (Multiple authorizations can exist on edited orders or with post-purchase upsells.) 2. Auto-tag orders with UTM parameters
This task automatically tags incoming orders with the UTM campaign, content, medium, source, and/or term associated with the customer’s visit. 3. Auto-tag customers when their order is tagged
This task watches for order tags, and adds a corresponding tag to the customer whenever a known order tag is found 4. Send an event to Klaviyo when a fulfillment is out_for_delivery
yup -- this will replace other apps that do ONLY delivery notifications. so 5, 6, 7 tasks are all fulfillment related. ALL ENABLED WITH ESSENTIALLY ZERO CODE Support was fast to reply when I had a basic onboarding question.
The Slack community is also a huge positive.
Did I say the documentation is spectacular? Mechanic can be a geeky as you want it to be, but it can also dumb down for non-coders. I'll update this review in a month, then again in a year.
But after 7-days, OMG this is a wonderfully powerful addition to any store.

We were able to work with a developer from the Mechanic community, to achieve our needs with the app. We used the app to create 4 tasks that trigger events to send our customers emails letting them know of shipping delays on pre-ordered items. Love that the app can sync with Klaviyo.

I love this developer-friendly powerful app. It does exactly what it says, and automates things based on specific logical conditions. I'm using this for managing customer tags, auto-fulfilling certain orders, handling the membership approval and removal of my site, and it hasn't let me down yet. In fact, looking at the catalogue of possible automations is quite the fun rabbit hole to get distracted playing with. The flexibility and reliability are exactly what I was hoping for. The customer support is AMAZING. I am seriously impressed with the developer's commitment to support their software in a personable, humble, and reliable way. I can't say enough great things about this app and the developer. I'm using locksmith (also from this developer), mechanic, and a membership payment processing app (from a different developer), so if this developer were to make one of the latter, I'd switch over in a heartbeat.

This app is amazing!
I was able to create 3 automations exactly as I wanted:
1. Send reminder emails to pending payment orders
2. Cancel orders after 4 days of not being paid
3. Send payment received to our manual payment methods after the payment has been received.

The support team on slack is fantastic. They helped me solve an issue when creating my automation.

Really worth the money.

TLDR; 1) If you're a developer, you owe it to yourself to learn and use this app. 2) Read the Manual! It will save you a lot of time and frustration. Long version: Are you a developer? Then why aren't you using this app yet?! Seriously, this app will change the way you build your shopify stores. The amount of power this app offers you is simply unparalleled. We use Integromat (similar to Zapier) to automate a lot of backend stuff for us, and Mechanic has been slowly replacing those workflows with cleaner, more native-feeling solutions. It's also given us the ability to do a lot of things we couldn't even do before. Mechanic has a bit of a learning curve, but the way it's built around the liquid code that every shopify developer knows helps you to feel right at home after a couple days. One tip though...RTFM!!! I know we all like to just dive in and figure things out on our own, but trust me, you will waste a lot of time by not orienting yourself with the basic concepts of how Mechanic works. An understanding of Actions, Events, Webhooks, Tasks, and Runs is ESSENTIAL. You'll also want to read over the Mechanic Liquid documentation, as they've added a number of extensions to the language that help with things like handling arrays and hashes. Lastly, support is awesome, and there's a friendly little Slack community where you can get help and help others out. PS- Lightward's pay-what-you-think-is-fair pricing structure is amazing, especially for a developer-oriented, usage-based app like this. In our case, we thought we were getting far more value from the app than their suggested subscription plan, so we opted to pay more than they asked. In other cases though, I could see us paying less if we weren't making very heavy use of the app on one of our stores. I wish this was more common, as we've come across some great apps in the past where we just couldn't justify the subscription cost, since we were being charged for a bunch of features that we weren't using.

This is exactly what people like me (a non-coder) need - a way to control costs by doing as much work by themselves. The functionality of this app is almost unbelievable. Being able to create tasks that run automatically or can be triggered manually will be an incredible time saver AND improve overall data integrity within the system-- our reports and communications will be far more consistent and targeted. General maintenance of the site will be cut by 75%. The customer service is amazing - they are responsive not only about the question at hand, but truly want to understand your needs so they can offer ideas to help you. They even direct you to various support networks they've set up. I've learned so much just by creating a few tasks. The variable cost option is a testament to this app's desire to serve the Shopify small businesses and non-profit communities. "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime" comes to mind...thank you for a great app!

This is by far the best app on the shopify app store. Literally never looking back after this. Think about it as a magical automator that can do pretty much everything Shopify can't out of the box. No need to learn code, but it is entirely possible to learn by doing. So many tasks already written, it's easy to pick up stuff that works an apply it to your use case. 11/10

An absolutely stunning app. Already consolidated 4 apps down into just this one and with extra functionality on top! Great cost saver. I was originally looking for a way to email a customer automatically when an order is automatically tagged as SpecialOrder. This app did that and more including emailing customers who placed orders on eBay to tell them about our main website, pushing out of stock products to bottom of collections, automatically tagging instock/out of stock/sale and not sale items, emailing us when a customer places 2 or more separate orders so we can combine and save shipping, adding eBay usernames to tag so can be searched in orders tab, automatically emailing customer for pre-orders and more!

I highly recommend scrolling through all 250+ tasks already in this app on the main website, I was literally smiling as I found more and more useful tasks and realising I can remove some paid apps (That cost even more than this one!).

This app is perfect for even those with limited coding/liquid experience, every task has a simple config area and you can always click to show the full code that is being done if you need to tweak small bits to suit your business.

The support is great as well, quick replies and additions or updates to current tasks means checking back you may find a new or updated task that suits your use or improve one your already using.

Seriously cannot recommend this App enough, cant believe I didn't find it sooner.

I've recently discovered Mechanic to assist with some back office automation and it delivered! I contacted the developer and got a quick and concise response. I highly recommend and will use several of their tasks to ease my development.
