Speed is slowed to 2 seconds at times - even with correct geo location of the CDN. Looking at the headers it appears that no caching is being done, which can be even on dynamic objects as we all have unique query string identifiers and could also use expires along with TTL to cache for some period of time - or allow browser caching (they set the no-cache header). Even a few mins would help.
Right now my entire web page takes 3 seconds to load, 2 seconds comes from the One Click Social Login. The other issue is the loading of the scripts on =every= page, so 2 seconds delay on every page, when login is only needed on login page or checkout page.
I think Shopify as an organisation needs to start putting in standards on coding and hosting for app developers as I have now seen a few really bad implementations that slow down shops a lot. Some developers are agile, others are not. Many stores may not notice with little traffic. But as your traffic increases and your page speed is the determining factor on SEO and search results with your competitors you need to be lean in every regard and every script.
I have asked numerous times if they can help fix this and all I get is a response asking if it is working and not addressing the speed and a request for me to remove the low rating.
Which is a very poor customer experience and not how I would treat my customers or my fellow app store customers either.
The app is VERY GOOD. For those of you who are not coders, new to web infrastructure and SEO, just be aware of the speed penalty that this app imposes.
This app helps when people login (as it is easy) and then leave a cart so you can email them about that lost cart. So the equation is, which is greater, revenue from abandoned cart recovery versus lost revenue from slow page loads and lower google seo rankings?
The developer does not seem too interested in fixing this. So I am going to look at other solutions for cart recovery tracking. As other reviewers have posted, the need to login or not is something that you need to assess carefully for your own store and weigh up the pros and cons.
Still working with developer. Have been some speed increase, though main issue is that the code is loaded and called with every page load as opposed to just on checkout or login pages. Developer is attentive and hope this is optimised soon.
Works well and have used for a while. Problem is they aren't scaling with their own customers growth. The CDN that they use is sucky and very slow in APAC. They really need to deploy a better CDN and spend more on their hosting as their app seriously slows down your site which affects your google rankings.
Right now a connection to their service on a page load results in a 1.5 second TCP wait followed by a 400ms transmision time for a tiny amount of code. That is basically a 2 second penalty added to every page view!
When you need to keep your total page load times with all the various apps and images under 3 seconds total, this is just not on.
