SE: Option Price Calculator

This is the most powerful calculator app for Shopify. I've been able to perform complex calculations and create awesome option manipulations with the Option Calculator. And honestly, I’ve only scratched the surface. The best part is that I can build these complex operations with zero programming experience. I’ll admit I can’t really tap into the custom CSS and JavaScript features, but all I have to do is work with Strategic Edge to handle those parts.

Five years ago, I wanted to build this same functionality into a Shopify store for my shutter site. Back then, I was getting quotes around $50K. Now I’ve got that same capability in an app for a tiny monthly cost.

If you need a calculator for your Shopify store, look no further—stop wasting your time and money.

This is the most powerful quoting system app I’ve ever used. It can handle almost every type of customization and pricing logic for custom products. If you have even a little bit of coding knowledge, you can customize it into anything you want — it’s truly amazing.

There is a bit of a learning curve at the beginning, as you’ll need some time to understand how the settings work. But once you figure it out, you’ll be impressed by how powerful this app really is. I genuinely admire the technical capability of this team for creating such an outstanding tool.

I noticed other reviews mentioning poor customer support, but my experience has been very different. The support representative who helped me — Matthew — was incredibly nice, patient, and professional. I highly recommend asking for Matthew if you need assistance.

The best app on the shopify market when it comes to strategic calculations and complex order processing. This app provides the perfect structure on our calculator to offer our new UV3D patches. Fantastic support and reliable help basically 24/7. These guys rock.

Takes a little tinkering at first, but once you get the hang of it, this app is incredibly powerful for complex, lookup based pricing. Great for custom products with lots of variables. Support has been super fast and helpful anytime I ran into issues.

Strategic Edge and their Price Option Calculator have been a game-changer for me! I’ve used it to build custom calculators for both flooring (area-based) and window coverings (grid-style), and once you wrap your head around how it works, it’s super intuitive and easy to update later.

I’m not a programmer, but I’m pretty handy with spreadsheets—and this just clicked for me. The logic makes sense, and the flexibility is awesome.

Big shoutout to Matthew for the top-notch support! Anytime I hit a wall or have a (usually dumb) question, he’s there—often replying within minutes. Can’t recommend this tool and team enough.

Worth the price!

It’s a great app with huge potential, and I’m genuinely disappointed that we couldn’t use it in the end. If you’re looking for a product calculator, you’ll quickly realize this app is one of a kind on the Shopify App Store. Unfortunately, the developers seem to have overlooked that Shopify is designed for everyday people - many of whom don’t have a technical background but want to build their own websites.

When you first install the app, you’re invited to book a free 15-minute setup call, which I did immediately. I was really eager to learn more, but to my surprise, no one showed up. I had to send two follow-up messages before someone finally joined the meeting after I’d already been waiting for 15 minutes.

You’ll also run into a rather limited help section. Despite having studied at a math-focused high school and holding both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in finance, it still took me two days to fully understand how the pricing tables and formulas work. They’re actually not that complicated - but a clear, descriptive help section would have made a huge difference.

Then come the real issues, which for us outweighed the benefits of keeping the app. For example, our product page would display one price, the “Add to Cart” button would show another, and the checkout would show yet another amount. The developers did offer workarounds, but most involved hiding values or options and adding information text instead - which didn’t feel like a proper solution. They also charge $350+ for their pre-made calculator templates, which I understand required time to build, and quoted us $800 just to make our checkout work with their app. And don’t be misled by the price shown on the app listing - to really use the app properly, you’ll need the Ultra plan, which is $120 per month. I was actually ready to pay all of that if the support had been responsive and reliable.

Unfortunately, support replies typically took 24–36 hours. The app does offer great flexibility and visual design customization, but the technical side is really only manageable if you have your own developer. You’ll likely need to hire a developer for almost everything.

I think the logic and potential behind the app are excellent - whoever is building it clearly knows what they’re doing - but they seem to forget that their customers are regular business owners selling t-shirts, stickers, body lotions, and other everyday products.

I truly hope they invest more in their support and make the app more accessible - both for people who don’t have a technical background and in terms of budget.

Starting off this app was a little rocky - and frustrating but not because of the calculator. As a sticker shop we needed something that was robust and had all the options necessary to facilitate the options that we offer from our business.

This calculator is extremely advanced and allows for all the options that you could dream of, but it does take some working through to make sure they all work together. Thankfully their customer support and service has been great at helping us navigate through some of the problems that we have encountered - even when it wasn't something to do with their product.

Definitely grateful for their help and product.

They have been great about reaching out on support and trying to resolve the issues, they have improved alot of the trouble we have had initially, though there are some minor bugs and things that would be nice to see improved. Overall it's the only app that does what it can do when we first started and it's now working much better. Takes a little to understand how it works but it is powerful

It's the only calculator with the customizations like this. And it's difficult to even create the calculators. You will need a developer to create multiple calculators. There are a few bugs that prevent calculators from being duplicated accurately and or using more than 1, and in turn requires a lot of cleanup after the fact. We have spent over 12 hours in this app and only 1 working calculator. The majority of the time is spent cleaning things up, from the template installs.

Their support has been helpful but in the end we have spent over $500 and still only 1 working calculator.

If you are a business owner thinking you can setup this up, wrong. You will need likely access to the $120 plan then pay for a template and then to pay a developer to create the calculator. Think $1000 minimum just to get up and running if you have a dozen or two calculators.
