We have been testing this app now for over half a year, but unfortunately it is not working as expected.
When importing products from a foreign supplier which is having variant names in a different language the whole thing stops working because it needs to same variant names and not only SKU's. Stops working? Not only that: it creates new shopify product ID's and sets the prices to 0 There seems to be a complicated way around setting up variant names using metafields. But how to do that with hundreds of products?
There are apps on the shopify app store who claim to only use the SKU as a reference point.
The developer replied with:'SKUs are not reliable as many stores do not enforce unique SKUs in their store.'
If this is the real reason, then that is easy to solve, because we instructed our suppliers to create unique SKU's. and again: if this is the real reason, allow users of your app to have the choice: sync by SKU only, or Sync by SKU and variant names. Make that as a clear option and a lot of irritation would have been avoided.
For us the app is not really usable for suppliers who use different languages for their variant names.
Just an absolute nightmare. Pity i did not know that when i started using this app.
Hi,
Thank you for your feedback.
First, I want to apologize if our app is not meeting your expectations. It is our goal to for the app to be accurate, reliable, and scalable.
I also want to address a couple of your concerns:
1. Currently, the product sync works by matching product options and variant names. Hence, if you want to sync to an existing product in your store, they need to match. If they don't match (such as different spellings of the variant names) and you have 'Create new products automatically' enabled, then new products will be created (with new product ID). If you have Price sync set to 'Do not import', then the new products will have a zero price.
2. As for translations of product options or variant names, perhaps there's another app that can help with translating the names and options? Our app currently requires the options and names to be the same. SKUs are not reliable as many stores do not enforce unique SKUs in their store.
3. For the specific SKU Ban/Eth/Bea/250. The product sync didn't work because the partner has this Product options: Size, Whole beans or pre-ground?, whereas the Product options in your store is: Size, Hela Bönor eller Bryggmalet. This doesn't match thus the product is not synced. Also, the partner has since made the product not available for export. If you ask the partner to enable this product for export and adjust the Product options, then the sync will work.
Let me know if you have any questions or how else I can help.
