    ✔ Same checkout flow for both "one-time" or "recurring" orders.


    When your customers checkout with a recurring product in their cart it gets added to the cart exactly the same as if it were a "one-time" purchase. When they checkout it uses a checkout flow that feels and looks exactly the same as the Shopify Responsive Checkout. It uses your existing shipping settings and has a built in tax engine to charge proper tax down to the County and Municipality!

    ✔ "Subscription Only" & Fixed Shipping Dates.


    This app has all kinds of options, like offering free shipping only on subscription orders, special discounts, etc... But two of the most commonly used features are the ability to make a product "Subscription Only" and set a "Fixed Shipping Date." If you set a product to Subscription Only it will not have the option for a one time purchase.     When you offer recurring orders on your store there are two main things you need to consider regarding product management. 1 - What happens if you delete a product in your Shopify admin? And, 2 - What happens if you change the price of a product on your store? Here's what we've done for you to be able to handle these situations.

    What happens if you delete a product in Shopify?


    Hey, we're human and we forget things! If you delete a product in your Shopify store that's on existing recurring orders, the next time that order tries to generate it will get an error. So when you delete a product that happens to be on a recurring order, you'll get a friendly email letting you know you need to deal with it. In the app there's a page dedicated to managing this, and you have two options there:

    Option A) You can simply select a replacement product that will replace the deleted product on all existing subscriptions. When you do this you can choose to use the new product price, the old product's price, or even enter a new price all together!

    Option B) You can simply remove that product from all subscriptions. If you have thousands of orders this can be very time consuming. So on your product management page you simply select to remove it, and it will update all orders for you!

    What happens if you change the price of a product on Shopify?


    If you change the price of a product on your Shopify store the price of that product on existing customer subscriptions will not change. Existing subscriptions will remain locked in at the price the customer purchased at. However, if you want to change the price of that product you can easily do so in the app.

    You can globally change the price to a new set fixed price, OR you can use our price modifier tool to increase or decrease the price a certain amount. This will be based off whatever the current price is on their order.

    Whether you swap the product, delete the product, or make a price change, you can choose to have the app automatically email all the affected customers letting them know about the update. Pretty neat, hey? :-)

    Speaking of automatic emails, there are a handful of automated emails built into this app to make your life a little easier. All emails use merge fields that allow you to build templates that can be customized for each customer with their products and details.

    It wouldn't be cool if customers could only use coupon codes on "one-time" orders and not "recurring" orders. At least we didn't think so! To solve this we built a replica of the Shopify coupon engine into the app. Simply replicate your coupon codes in it and that code will then work on any type of order, recurring or one-time! Use them to:

    Boost total sales: Let's say your average cart total is $80. Why not send your customers a free shipping code for orders over $100?! This encourages your customers to add that little bit extra to their cart.

    There are three ways you can offer recurring products with this app. Maybe you want customers to be able to buy just one recurring product at a time, maybe you want them to make an entire cart recurring, or maybe you want them to be able to have a combination of both! You can do it all with this app. :-)


    • RECURRING CART - Customers can select whether or not to make their entire cart a recurring order. With this option nothing changes on the product page, customers add products to the cart just like normal. On the cart page the customer will have the option to make the order a one time purchase or select to make the entire cart recur at an interval they select such as weekly, monthly, etc.
    • SINGLE PRODUCT - Customers find a product, select what they want their recurring subscription interval to be (weekly, monthly, etc) and then checkout. With this method if they choose to order a product as recurring they don't add the product to the cart, it takes them directly to the checkout page. This is exactly the same way Amazon does it.
    • MULTIPLE PRODUCTS - This is similar to the Recurring Product method, but when a customer chooses to buy a recurring product it adds it to their cart rather than take them to a checkout and they can continue shopping and add more products. They can add more recurring products at the same or different intervals AND they can add products that are not recurring all in the same cart.

    Common Questions


    Q - Will this app integrate with shipping, order fulfillment, and accounting apps?


    You bet! This app uses your regular products in the normal way they're used everyday. The only difference is if an order is recurring, the app generates it every month rather than the customer. When it generates the order, it becomes a regular order in your Shopify admin. So if your orders are getting pushed somewhere else it will do so whether it's a recurring order, or regular order.

    Q - What about Taxes & Shipping?


    This app fully integrates with your existing shipping settings, you don't need to do a thing! The only thing to note is that when you install the app sometimes it can take up to an hour to sync everything. For tax, unlike other apps, we don't rely on a 3rd party. We built a fully integrated tax service that the app uses to ensure up to date rates.

    Q - How does it handle my Google analytics and conversion tracking?


    We've got you covered! The app has a special "Scripts" box you can enter all your conversation and analytic tracking scripts into.

    Q - Is there liquid code I need to install to use this app?

    Q - Will customers need multiple accounts for this app?


    Nope, they all tie into their existing account on your store. However customers will need to be logged in to make a recurring order to tie it to their account. If they're not logged in they'll still see the recurring options, but when they try to make a recurring order it will ask them to log in.

    Given the amount of time spent on developing this app and all the features packed into it, the app should definitely be more than $19.99/month. Hello Fellow Shopify Store Owners,

So, I initially downloaded the BOLD Recurring Order App and set up several aspects or features, most notable are the subscription groups of course... I really love these... I have two on my website, www.MarqueeCandles.com... one group is set up for customers to purchase individual candles on a recurring order or subscription basis... or they can purchase an individual candle all on its own, the widget is AWESOME.. it looks just like the "One Time Purchase" or "Subscription" option you might see on Amazon.com.. So, I love it.. as this is a feature that potential customers are familiar with.
Secondly, i set up another group for a product which has Subscription as the only offering to customers.. Both groups work seamlessly...the widgets on the product pages are brilliant.. I say that because i love the fact that you can customize the look with color attributes and line color and much more... Both groups, when tested work smoothly when checking out... you can have both; subscription purchased items in the shopping cart, as well as individual -one time purchased items in the cart...
Another thing, the Recurring Orders App requires you to designate the merchant account you want to use to process the order... I set up the BrainTree account (which by the way is a subsidiary of Paypal so its a trusted merchant service provider), but i ultimately decided to use the Strip merchant account for checkout processing of Recurring Orders, (which i call subscriptions)... as this simply deposits monies into my business checking account... so it works just fine for me that way, but now i have the option of changing to BrainTree if I ever want to... They offer a plethora of other merchant providers, most I don't know anything about...
Anyway, another aspect i like about this App is that you can offer customers Discount codes. As you know you can create discounts in your Shopify store, but you can also offer customers Discount codes you create in the Recurring Orders App... and the beauty is that the two different discount codes do not overlap... meaning the Shopify discount codes will not be recognized and honored if someone enters one at checkout if the same code is not set up in the Recurring Orders App... At first this might sound like its a Negative against the App but its not....because think about it this way.. in your regular store you may offer discount codes or promotions for individual items... say 10% off a candle we sell, but since we are offering subscriptions to customers which already contain discounts, we don't want the customer to be able to take an additional 10% off of the already discounted subscription price.. so this is Genius if you ask me... It gives you total control over the pricing, the discounts and keeping what you offer customers separate...
Now the one issue I have with this App is this... but i need to preface it with this.. i am not an Internet SEO guru okay I am good at it to a point but i have limits and I say this because I ran a speed test on my site after loading this App and three others to my store... and Pingdom and GTMetrix are both giving my site a Lower than average Grade for Website load time. When I first researched the reasons, some of them included the following: Paralyzing downloads across hostnames -citing URLS in the BOLD App, then there are Combine External JavaScript mentions - again citing the BOLD App, then there are Remove query strings from static resources mentions - again citing the BOLD App... Sooooo.... what did I do... I uninstalled the App all together thinking this will fix my website load time... WELL.... here is where the wake up call comes in... I re-ran the tests and guess what there was only nominal improvement in my site load speed... i discovered, that had i taken more time to look at the analysis i would have found the first time that my biggest issue is not the BOLD App but the file size of my photos on the site and the need to serve photos at an already smaller size so the CSS script or whatever it is doesn't have to shrink them, thereby forcing the load time to be longer because the code has to execute a command to shrink a photo before loading a website when called upon on the internet... Soooo HUGE lesson learned here... because i loved the BOLD APP.... ENTER.. my re-installation...
I then reinstalled it and had a minor issue over Father's day weekend, so i submitted a ticket to BOLD... and thought I would not hear back until Monday or Tuesday. Well, guess what.... Not only did I hear back from the BOLD App staff, i got an immediate fix from Raj.... (Raj you are the MAN) thanks again for your dedication and help over that weekend..). He fixed my issue in no time at all and responded to me immediately. Then on Monday another team member from Bold addressed the Ticket as follows up to make sure it was all working...

I really cant say enough good things about my experience with this BOLD App and its designers or staff members... Probably the biggest take away for you, my fellow store owners is this....

1. This App works great... and it has tons of other features I haven't even explored yet like Analytics, Reports, Recurring Cart Orders, BUILD A BOX (which i love as this will fit with another business I have), Manage Customers with recurring orders, Manage products which will give you a forecast of the inventory you need in the future to cover subscriptions, plus even though I'm not using it, you can set up Discounts in the Bold App which are not offered in your actual Shopify store discount system as I mentioned above.

2. The second most important take away is this... CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT RESPONDS... yes its in Caps because i want to emphasize this... we have all downloaded Apps off the Shopify App Store only to discover a product that is faulty or we need help with installation and then WHAM.... there is no one there to help you.... Well, BOLD gets 10 stars in Customer Service not only because of my Father's Day weekend fix by Raj, but because BOLD will actually install the Recurring Order App in your store for you.. you just have to give them the limited access they need and BOOM they do it.. (Note here... I thought i could do it on my own and got to step 7 and found out.. "okay this part i cant do" I contacted BOLD and within hours I had responses from Jordan, Leanne, Veronica.... They were on top of it and Jordan finished off the install and then i had a follow up from Brenden....

Guys.. (ie.. shopify store owners) I know all this sounds like overkill filled with praise, but its all true and happened just as I outlined it.. and lets be honest you are a consumer okay, a store owner in the Shopify App market, and as a consumer you are not just buying a product you expect to work but you are buying the service that supports it... and BOLD nails this on both levels.. my hats off to BOLD... and I don't say that lightly because I am a picky consumer... I will take a product back to a store in a minute if there is a problem with it or I will contact customer service if i need their advertised help.. and if i dont get it, i simply return the product and move on to the next guy willing to take my money who will give me what i want.. and that is why I am pleased with BOLD so far.. I plan to add other Apps they have as my orders increase so the Apps can pay for themselves.. but at this time this is the one I have.. and it does what it is supposed to...

So, there you go, I hope this was helpful to anyone who reads it... again i know its long but given the premium quality of the App and the service Bold provides this review is the least they deserve.

Have a good one and bust of luck with your Shopify Store I highly recommend using the Reoccurring Order BOLD app if you have a need for it.

We have recently started using this app, it was easy to set up, and whilst we only have one customer with a recurring order so far, it's seamless and working well!

We've been through a couple of Subscription style apps and I wish we'd found this one sooner. Initially we didn't use this app because it didn't have PayPal as a payment method but the other features that it DOES have more than make up for it. The support is excellent and I'm really happy to say that I think we've finally found our "forever" subscription app.

Everyone at Bold has been very helpful in helping me get my subscription product up and running. They have patiently explained options, help me tweak menus and are awesomely responsive in replying when I need help. I really love using this Recurring Order & Subscriptions by Bold. Why?
1] support by Bold staff turn around is always in a timely manner
2] as a first time end user, my experience with this app is very easy to learn its features and to follow clearly labeled menu screens with its features.
3] I still have a lot to learn about this app that I added to our Shopify store in June 2017. So, I can convert all manual process to online or paperless environment that is PCI compliant tied to credit card payments. And I know BOLD staff is always there for help.

Wow I have used all the other recurring apps available on shopify and this is BY FAR THE BEST. They will always help with what ever is going on. Victoria is always available to get the job done super quick. I am so stoked with how affordable it is. I also love how it works with all their other stellar apps.

This app has simply allowed recurring subscriptions on our store for our nutrition and fitness apps. We simply could not have sold our products without the use of this app. We loved the communication and help at every step along the launch of our store.
