I wanted to look into this for you right away after hearing about the charge.

I checked the app history, and it looks like your store has installed and uninstalled our app a few times before the charge. Since the trial period is tied to the store (rather than each installation), it had already been used up during a previous install.

Because the trial was considered expired, the recurring charge was set to activate on your next install. The charge went through even though there were only a few days between installs and uninstalls, due to Shopify’s billing cycle working differently from our app’s cycle.
