Thanks for trying Smart Pricing. In markdowns and markups, cost per item is one of the signals behind each tip. You can check the tooltip on a tip to see the forecast, sell-through, inventory, seasonality, and cost data behind the logic.

We're working on adding margin targets into price tips. This will let you better account for overhead costs like shipping. We just launched price tips for new products, which tells merchants how similar items across Shopify are priced of the same category, market / currency, and price tier.
