Misleading claims and unresolved Meta Pixel errors
I installed WeTracked because it claims to provide more accurate Meta tracking than Shopify’s native Facebook & Instagram app. However, my experience has been disappointing.
Meta Events Manager showed two errors, including an issue indicating that the app may be sending an incorrect purchase value. Support initially told me that everything was configured correctly and that I should simply ignore the Purchase error because it would resolve itself over time. They did not explain why Meta was reporting the wrong price or provide evidence that the event data was correct.
I compared this setup with another Shopify store using only Meta’s official Facebook & Instagram app. The native setup had no errors, a higher Event Match Quality score, and better sales performance.
Support repeatedly claimed that WeTracked was “definitely more accurate,” but they could not provide any data, testing methodology, comparison date, or technical evidence to support that statement. They also initially claimed that Meta’s native Shopify integration mainly relies on browser tracking. After I pointed out that Meta’s official Shopify integration supports both browser and server-side events through the Conversions API, they changed their explanation.
Later, support claimed that WeTracked’s server-only tracking was more accurate than Meta’s browser-and-server setup, but they could not clearly explain why. Their answers were contradictory and appeared to rely on outdated information about Meta’s native Shopify integration.
I asked their Solutions Team to provide evidence showing why WeTracked is more accurate, details of when and how their comparison was conducted, an explanation of the incorrect purchase-value error, and a reason why the official Meta setup currently has better matching quality and performance.
Based on my experience, Shopify merchants may be better off using the official Facebook & Instagram app. It is free, supports both browser and server-side tracking, and in my comparison it produced fewer errors, a higher matching score, and better results.
I am still waiting for a response from their Solutions Team, and they should reply here in the Shopify Community with their technical explanation and evidence. At this stage, their marketing claims appear misleading and unsupported, especially because their support team provided contradictory information about Meta’s official Shopify integration.
Hi,
Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We’re genuinely sorry to hear about your experience and, in particular, that our explanations around the Meta integration and the Purchase event left you feeling that you were receiving contradictory or insufficient answers.
We completely understand your concerns. When Meta is reporting an error or showing different Event Match Quality between setups, it is reasonable to expect clear technical explanations and evidence rather than simply being told to wait or ignore an issue. If we did not communicate this clearly enough, we sincerely apologize.
We also want to acknowledge that your questions around Meta's native Shopify integration and how our approach compares are legitimate. We don't want to dismiss your observations or simply tell you that our solution is "more accurate" without actually looking at the specific setup and data involved.
That is precisely why we offered to have our Solutions team review your configuration in detail, including our technical experts and main developer. The intention was to go through the setup together, investigate the Purchase value discrepancy, review the events being sent to Meta, and understand the differences you're seeing in Event Match Quality and reporting.
Unfortunately, we haven't received confirmation from you that you were able to proceed with that call, so the technical investigation was never completed.
We would genuinely still like to do this.
If you're open to it, please reach out to us through the live chat in your wetracked.io account and reference this review. Our team will be happy to arrange the call with our Solutions team and make sure the appropriate technical people are involved.
Our goal isn't simply to tell you that everything is working correctly. We want to actually review the configuration and data with you, understand what you're seeing, and determine whether there is something that needs to be corrected or improved.
We're sincerely sorry that your experience so far has left you questioning our product and our claims. Your feedback is important to us, and we'd appreciate the opportunity to properly investigate the concerns you've raised rather than leave them unresolved.
We’re here to help, and the offer to review everything with our technical team remains open.
With sincere apologies,
The wetracked.io Team
