Our case was not simple: we many discount codes, and any gift built as a product discount forced us to open Shopify's combination settings on our whole catalog, creating uncontrolled stacking between codes. Shopify only handles combinations by discount class, so we were stuck. Instead of a copy-paste answer, the BOGOS team investigated with us over several days and brought the right solution: their Clone Products logic. The gift is added as a separate product natively priced at €0, no discount object is created anywhere, the order shows a clean €0 line item, and our hundreds of codes stay completely untouched.
