Too bad Shopify Payments doesn't offer subscription functionality. Seems like such a logical extension. Seal is fairly intuitive and affordable for the small business to set up and administer, but Shopify order numbers are different, so we have to do a lot of toggling back and forth between these apps during fulfillment time or when responding to customer questions. And as businesses grow, increased capacity and functionality is gated by paywalls, so merchants should be aware of that happening more quickly than expected. Once the business get to a certain size, OOTB reporting becomes very limited and support is not real-time for the US. Agents are in Europe. Given the subscription service is storing customer information to automate renewals, merchants that have aspirations of managing 1,000+ subscriptions with multiple products may want to consider a service with better reporting and analytics that may be initially more expensive, because switching to another provider later could damage retention rates during a change.

Basic but solid service for a good price. A good deal if you are starting your subscriptions journey.
Not very good on prepaid plans compared to more premium (and expensive) options.

Service is good and fast. Would recommend, with caveats mentioned above.

I wish Seal subscriptions would notify me when a customer payment fails, changes their subscription, etc.

This app is way to difficult to migrate from Recharge. The amount of time it takes to update each customer profile in a excel sheet is really frustrating and support takes too long to respond and doesn't send detailed information to resolve the issues. You need to make video tutorials showing how to migrate from platforms.

We're sorry to hear that your migration experience has been frustrating. We'd like to clarify that migrating from Recharge should not require editing customer CSV files, as long as you’re using Shopify Payments or Stripe to charge customers. In these cases, our app can securely retrieve all the necessary billing data directly through the API, eliminating the need for manual updates.

We have reached out to you directly and would be happy to assist you personally by completing the migration together over a video call and making the process as smooth as possible. If you’re open to it, we’d still love to help you get everything set up successfully.

UI needs improvement, especially with adding more filter options. Right now, discounts for free products are being applied permanently instead of only on the first subscription order. We occasionally offer free products, but the system continues to apply the discount on every renewal.

Because of this, we’ve been manually removing those discounts to ensure the items aren’t repeatedly marked as free.

The app works well. Can slow the customer experience a little due to the volume of products we offer the subscription on. Features could be better. We offer discounts depending on how often someone gets a product and when another product is added to the plan, it puts it at full price and doesn't respect the frequency. Many of our customers struggle to manage the plans themselves as products don't add when they do it so there's a lot of manual customer service tickets.

Great app for our business doing coffee subscriptions!
Just a heads up that some wifi routers may block you from using the app online. We got a new router recently and now have to use the app via cell phone using our data. Customer service was helpful but wish this wasn't a hiccup.

App works great but instructions are not totally clear. In the end it is workable and you can figure it out. No customer support email or chat is very frustrating. Not a fan of this.
