After using Loop Subscriptions across multiple stores, I can confidently say it's one of the most frustratingly stagnant platforms on the market. What started with potential has turned into a case study in missed opportunities and complete lack of innovation.

Zero Customization, One-Size-Fits-None

Loop sells the idea of being flexible and Shopify Plus-friendly, but in reality, it's rigid, bloated, and overly reliant on basic templates. The lack of front-end customization options makes it near impossible to create an experience that feels native to your brand. You want a modern flow? Forget it. You’ll be stuck wrestling with limitations that shouldn’t exist in 2025.

No Real Retention Tools – Just Wishful Thinking

While other platforms are actively building retention mechanics like personalized win-back flows, smart pause/skip incentives, or tailored reactivation offers, Loop is still pitching "skip a month" like it's a game-changer. There’s no strategic churn management, no dynamic rewards, no real ownership over how you keep your customers engaged. They give you a calendar and a prayer.

Painfully Behind the Curve

The e-commerce landscape is moving fast, and Loop just isn’t keeping up. Their competitors are miles ahead, offering advanced analytics, deep integrations, and retention-first thinking. Loop, meanwhile, acts like it’s 2021 – and even then, it would’ve been average at best.

If you’re running a serious DTC brand and care about owning your subscriber journey, Loop isn’t the tool. It’s an outdated, cookie-cutter solution in a space where innovation actually matters.

Switched over to loop a few months ago and I am very happy with the app. The customer service is amazing and it is really user friendly.

Solid app. Only using it for the build-a-box feature, so I can't speak to the "regular" subscription features. But I looked at most of the available subscription apps that offer build-a-box features standard, and this one works for me so far.

More importantly, they have have been super-responsive from a support stand point. Fixing bugs I find during testing, adding small features, etc.

And for the price, it's a solid choice.

I recommend Loop Subscriptions, it is a great app, very customizable and the customer service is amazing.

We have had good experience with this app so far. Our store sells fruits, vegetables and groceries, so our prices vary from week to week. Loop can make the price of the subscriptions have a small price variation, following the changes we make in the store, which is quite useful.
The customer service is very good, they helped me implement the app and they also constantly help me with any questions or doubts I have regarding the app.

The product was not worth the price and the customer service was unsatisfactory. I experienced an issue and was advised to fix it on my own without much assistance or support from the customer service team. The app is also overpriced.

We migrated to Loop from another top 5 subscription service in a few days only.

The team at Loop was very kind, respectful and receptive to our demands all the way, they even went further and co-worked with devs from another third party app that handles our Customer Portal to integrate with. Wow

When we need support we usually have an answer in max 5-10 min. on average through emails, which is extremely precious in some delicate situations like a migration process.

We enjoy the fact that Loop has a clean integrated interface in Shopify and that the team improves the app regularly

This app is very easy to use, many subscription details were thought of in advance. Widget and customer portal customization and subscription service management are top notch. However that's not the greatest advantage of this app. Loop team and the way they support you is just amazing. Really happy to pick Loop from the list of subscription apps.

I can't say enough about the Loop support team! They went above and beyond to make sure their app worked with our theme, all under a very tight deadline! We have had a great experience with Loop. We had a specific use case and they were very helpful in working with us. Their system is quite flexible and the team has always been responsive. The portal looks great out of the box and their roadmap includes some great features we're looking to implement.

Abel and the Loop team have been very helpful during our Migration to Shopify, and have provided continued support as we encounter additional situations. They are quick to resolve any issue we have, and provide hopeful solutions.

Their customer support and knowledge have won me over, and I'll be a customer for life! Abel was amazing :-)

Set up was straightforward and their support guided me through the small issue I had promptly. Can't recommend enough!

We changed from Recharge to Loop in Nov 2022 as Recharge didn't have all the features we needed and we found Recharge's support slow and at times very average. In contrast, the guys from Loop have been fantastic during the migration and whenever we encountered a problem they'd fix it overnight and were always available via phone or video conference which made the migration very smooth. I thought that once migrated the support would maybe drop and get worse, but this has not been the case. In January 2023 we overhauled our website and wanted to add a fairly customised bundle feature and again, Loop has offered exceptional customer service during this process. Our web development agency had the same feedback regarding Loop and was very impressed with the help of Loop (thanks Lesle, Vivek, and Piyush!) and they were dealing with Recharge at the same time for another client so had a straight comparison. Apart from the exceptional service, Loop offers better reporting, a better dashboard, and just better features at a better cost. I can highly recommend them to anyone in need of a good app (partner) to drive subscriptions.

Very useful tool. The team from Loop are fast and efficient in support and on boarding. Here you receive personal and solution-oriented support from day 1. I have even experienced that custom functions have been implemented based on my request. Great recommendation from here.

They fixed custom CSS in my Shopify store free of charge to make sure that the Manage Subscription page looked proper. My default theme was cutting off the top of the Manage Subscription page, and it was beyond my skill level to fix! Truly appreciate it. You can stop looking for subscription apps, I have looked for them all already, and chose Loop. It's the best choice. Looks cleaner than Yotpo too. Abel Lesle is a great customer service rep!

Straight-forward subscription app that delivers exactly what you need. Customer Service team (specifically Abel) was very knowledgeable and helpful. We set up a video chat to go through my set up questions and, when realizing my needs were out of Loop's subscription capabilities (I needed an upselling app), he recommended another app that would be a better fit.

This app is EXACTLY what I have been dreaming of after running a subscription based company for years! It allows so much customization and automation, that I've previously spent so many hours doing manually. The user interface is so smooth and easy to use, both at the backend and for the customer. On top of all that, the team behind it is super helpful and answering any question you may have quickly and in great detail. This is THE subscription app to use. They are also constantly pumping out updates, giving even more new customization options all the time. Don't bother going through the headache of trying other subscription apps first, like I did. Just try this one, if you want a nice and intuitive and bug free app, that has all the customization options you need. Thank me later ;)
