The app is good, however the support service team have been fantastic. I'll always try and set up or fix things first, but I must admit there are just somethings I need to get the techs to fix. Thanks
Great app. Amazing customer service, always swift responses with lots of relevant and helpful information!
The customer service team is amazing. Matt, specifically, gave me over-the-top great service until I fully understood the issue my customers were experiencing. The app is great. 4 stars only because access to the subscription portal for customers can be wonky if the proper settings aren't enabled from the get-go. Talk to a customer service person first : )
The application itself is very good when it comes to subscription type purchases. The only thing which's actually a negative is that when an "export" of cancelled subscription is made, it's given in "in full" As in there's no option to select the date for which you want the export to be given. Thanks.
So far the set up has been relatively easy. I would appreciate more visual instructions for setting things up. Breanna was super helpful and kind in answering my questions.
The app is a little bit confusing with its features - it's not as straightforward. However, the customer support is amazing and quick and resolved my query quickly 5 out of 5.
I never write reviews but I feel like I have to, in this case, as a warning to potential users. I wanted ReCharge to work. I've used others in this space and found them lacking. With the number of features ReCharge claims to have it felt like a no-brainer. Instead, to date, I've run into the following issues, causing us to lose revenue and customers: - ReCharge doesn't understand sales tax and sometimes doesn't collect it properly, leading to lost revenue, or over-charging customers. They don't have a solution besides radio silence in their emails.
- ReCharge doesn't understand the easily-attainable-from-Shopify shipping rates and will sometimes not collect shipping charges, leading to lost revenue. They don't have a solution besides to just don't collecting shipping charges or charge based on weight, not price. (No one told them that's a terrible recommendation, obviously.)
- ReCharge's integration doesn't work with OS 2.0 themes, full stop, regardless of what they tell you. (It's not like it hasn't been in the works for a while.)
- ReCharge made a change to their shipping component, causing my customers recurring orders to silently error out and not fulfill. This caused at least one of my customers to cancel, resulting in lost revenue. (I received no indication there was a problem, and ReCharge sent my customer a notification email that their order was shipping soon.) If you're not noticing a trend, here, it's this: with the hundreds of millions of dollars they've received in funding, their tool appears to be built like they had zero funding and had to create it in a weekend. I wish I could leave them because I don't trust them with my business or my customers, however, the competition is outright worse. I don't know where all of these 5-star reviews are coming from. They appear fake. I haven't had a single month in the last half-year where there I didn't run into an issue with ReCharge, and after speaking with colleagues in the e-commerce space, they all had similar views and opinions. Even after all that, I still managed to give them two stars. Like I said, their feature set is great when it works, but that's where it ends. Their support team is subpar and has no interest in seeing a problem through to a solution. Their documentation is scattered and inaccurate. You'll be fine if you don't do anything remotely complicated or ever need help. I wish I could go back in time and never sign up with them. I have customers I can't migrate away from their platform, at all, so I'll always be stuck to them unless I want to lose even more revenue. Maybe it's worth it.
I worked with Dora at Recharge to work out some customisations and she helped me get 3 tasks done within the first 24 hours. Super helpful!
Helpfull customerservice. The features requested was not avaiable. However the customer service was quick to offer other tools.
Recharge is the only app I've given a 1 star review. For starters, when an update to our theme was made, Recharge simply stopped taking in any new customers. We were fooled because older subscriptions were coming in daily. We found out a couple months later, shame on us. We most likely lost 100 subscribers valued at $80/mo. To get Recharge to work again, they asked us to hire people who can write code to fix the bugs. No Thanks. We simply had Seal Subscriptions up in ten minutes, and now the issue is Recharge's customer service is so incredibly slow, we are unable to transfer the current subscriptions. Another "tack on the wall" was a year into our subscription, they wanted to double their customer's rate.
If Recharge takes care of this ASAP, I'll update this review. Until then, I heavily regret using them.
11/14/23 Update - Recharge is nowhere to be found. We've been actively trying to move our subscriptions to Seal, but Recharge will not respond and won't give access to the correct CSV or API keys needed.
11/16/21 Update - Recharge responded, but gave me the same instructions found online which don't work. We don't have access to pull the correctly formatted CSV nor have the API keys. Still 1 star service. I'm guessing we'll play "email tag". At this point, we're worried we'll just lose the current subscribers.
11/27/23 Update... Still no luck. Tech support has not been helpful at all and so far, our only chance to get everyone off recharge is bribing my customers with a $5 OFF coupon to manually go in and re subscribe to a product. Even then, we'll likely lose at least half of the subscribers.
Our Seal Subscriptions have a higher conversion rate and is a tad more visually appealing. The pricing is much more fair as well.
Run from Recharge...
We appreciate you taking the time to leave a review and for voicing your concerns. I am glad that we were able to provide you with a refund on the charges you received.
The pricing increase was announced via an email on June 29th, 2023, in conjunction with in-app notifications and follow-up messaging. The standard plan pricing took effect for new merchants earlier in 2023, and existing merchants as of January 1st, 2024.
We are proud of the transparency & timeframe we have provided to our merchants during the price change and the responsiveness we've had in assisting those who no longer wish to utilize our app.
