The app processes shipping addresses in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States
They can only process the addresses of these countries, when I asked for a warning to be added for non-latin letters due to the ERP system, my request was not fulfilled.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.
The non-latin character rule works out of the box, but as you said, only for countries we cover.
Right now, we do a few sequential checks: 1) is the order in a country we cover? 2) if yes, does it pass all the validation rules (ie. latin characters, length)? , 3) if yes, is it a valid address according to the major shipping carriers? It may be a bit of work to reverse the sequence of actions #1 and #2, but could be possible. I will pass this request along to our dev team.
The other option is if you are a Shopify Plus merchant. If you are, then we can easily process address rules for any addresses during checkout because the our Address Validator app can run checks as the user keys in the address. Without Shopify Plus, we have to send the order ID to the Address Validator app backend so it can fetch info from the Shopify API and then the address goes through a series of checks as explained above. This is a Shopify limitation, not something we implemented. Shopify Plus merchants get a lot more flexibility in the checkout compared to the other Shopify merchants.
If you want to reach out to our customer support team one more time, we can do our best to help for your specific implementation needs. Thanks.
Not effective if the pop up only appears on the thank you page, we still have to check all the addresses manually and there are still address errors or missing house numbers etc. The addresses that this app corrects only consisted of changing from lower case to upper case and nothing more and we have to pay money for that?! If the pop up would have appeared in the checkout it might have been a different matter, but that's only available for plus merchants!
You can load Address Validator during checkout only if you're a Shopify Plus user via the checkout.liquid template file. Unfortunately, this is a Shopify restriction.
Please note Shopify Plus is not required for Address Validator to work, a lot of our customers also use the app for validation post-checkout. If you had any issues setting up the app to minimize the number of address errors, please let us know we'll be glad to help you: https://calendly.com/addressvalidator/15min
