Cross sell provided a great way for us to try and ensure customers chose a mandatory license add-on to their hardware purchase, something we just couldn't have done without delving into the complexities of Shopify variants. Just installed last week and so far so good! We're using it for our related items "you may also like" feature. We wanted something that would automatically show alternate products if one was removed from the site or if none were set up. Looking forward to using the other features this platform has to offer.
