I'm trying to move away from Zapiet as well as a ton of other programs but Shopify Local Delivery is not a good choice yet.

1. It is near impossible to find this app on the Shopify App store.
2. If you ever turn off delivery with this app still installed, it will no longer function until you remove and install it again.
3. You can't assign pickup orders that have already been placed to delivery if the customer changes their mind.
4. You can't create test orders to try functionality.
5. There is not a clear way for you to assign deliveries to a driver/not an associated app that drivers can use when delivering (fleet software).
6. The app will fail to load on iPhones when trying to view routes.
7. The app has very little information explaining the different functions and how to use it.

For an app created by Shopify for Shopify, this was poorly done. We'll try it for a couple days and move back to Zapiet if it doesn't improve.

Hi there,

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Your feedback helps us improve the local delivery experience, including how it’s set up, how it’s offered at checkout, and how orders are delivered through the Shopify Local Delivery app.

We have fixed the issue with the driver view loading in the iOS app. You should now be able to access it on your phone.

We have also recently added the ability for you to share a link that expires within 48hrs with any non-staff driver so that they can use it to perform the delivery. We hope that helps you better perform your deliveries.

We are also starting work to make it easier to ensure you are able to treat any appropriate order (e.g. customer with local pick up but changed their mind) as a local delivery order.

We hope you give the app another go and look forward to your additional feedback.

I was really excited when I saw this app had arrived but its a huge disappointment frankly.

As a company that exclusively does local deliveries it could be a game changer but currently it's worthless I'm sad to say.

-The local delivery limit doesn't seem to actually inhibit orders out of the area from being made, but some inside it does.
-the lack of ability to select it as an option from a draft order is a very strange omission.
-the lack of multiple delivery rate threshold options based on order amount and/or distance from business location is a wasted opportunity.
-when you do get the app to work and manage to select orders to calculate a route, the app always does them furthest order away first. The ability to change this to nearest to furthest would be useful, it makes no business sense to carry your entire day's deliveries to the furthest address away first, burning more fuel than needed.
-once you've got a route (even though it is backwards) you then can't do anything with it. The app never lets me store it to recall the next day or send to another user with access to the shop. It needs to be sharable as a Google maps route so the delivery driver can click on it and set off on his or her way.
-admin needs to be able to choose the orders for a route, save the list, name it and share it with the delivery driver.
-local delivery orders also need to be editable, they are no different to any other order in that respect.

Sort a few of these things out and it's getting there! Drafts orders input at the very least.

This does not work with the Shopify pos app (shop in store; get it delivered). I also don't think they are updating this app to improve it.

Hey, there. Thank you for taking the time and sharing this feedback with us. We can see how having the Shopify Local Delivery app integrated with the Shopify POS can be beneficial for our merchants, like yourself, and we'd be happy to pass this feedback along to our development team. We're having the same issues as The Box Café, from the UK. It doesn't work here in Brazil. It would be great if you guys could make it work in other countries than Canada.

Dev said there would be features added in the coming week and were are months in with nothing added that would help small local businesses. July 2, 2020
Tejas We are working on adding support for multiple delivery zones and look forward to making the app more useful to you in the coming weeks. A reply from a dev back in july saying local delivery zones would be added which is something local businesses need to expand further to deliver further out but we cant.

It is a nice simple delivery application, definitely a good start, but it NEEDS the ability for the customers to sign for their delivery, and for the driver to leave notes. We will continue to use Circuit for Teams for now, but hope that you guys will add some more basic functionality that all other delivery apps have.

A big part of our business is local deliveries so we were thrilled when Shopify added that functionality, but it's coming up short for a few reasons.
1) i need to be able to charge different rates for different zip codes. As a result, we only use the Shopify Local Delivery functionality for the 3 closest zip codes and I use a different app to differentiate rates for other zip codes. 2) the app needs to allow me to manually tag an order as a local delivery. As a result of weakness #1, not all my local orders appear in the app so it's mostly useless.
3) I need to be able to manually import addresses/spreadsheets. we work with a lot of large bulk orders where folks want to send 20 gifts to 20 addresses and these are not entered as separate orders in shopify.

Great if all your orders are local delivery, but when you put an order through manually you can't choose local delivery, which means you can't add the order to the delivery route.
also needs to rethink using google maps a check as google maps is so wring so much of the time, you have to budget the customers addresses to add them to the route. could do with some work in my opinion.

I tried this app out first in June 2020, when it still had many limitations. Now, in August 2020, some things have improved: order from draft is possible and also there is now a dedicated driver app. Therefore, I'm bumping up my rating from 3 to 4 stars.

I can confirm I technically can create orders of type "local delivery" from draft. What I need to do is enter a valid destination (--> zip code) so that the validation module can find local delivery as a valid delivery method.

Implement areas include:
1. Delivery type "Local Delivery" is still immutable - imagine customer changes their mind and calls us to switch from 'local pickup' to 'local delivery'. Or a customer that didn't see 'local delivery' as an option because they entered zip code in the wrong format (In Poland, 12-345 is correct but around 2% still write 12345) and chose a different shipping method just for the sake of being able to check out.
2. The shipping method step of the checkout is pretty much a black-box, so customer is left in the dark guessing, and there are no helpful error messages. All my customers get if they enter the zip code wrong is "We don't deliver to your address.”. PLEASE finally roll out Google Address Validation across the globe! Yes - it is rolled out for merchants across the world. But no - it is not rolled out for customer addresses around the world. Polish addresses do not have this feature, and I frequently have a customer mistype the zip code - this customer would not find the "Local Delivery" option
3. As a shopper, it is impossible to see when to expect the delivery before purchasing. This is a big no-go. Please add some rudimentary slot booking system, or at least allow app devs to switch over from regular deliveries to the new “local delivery” feature
4. Allow me to set “free “orders over xx$”

For now, it is still impossible for me to switch from Zapiet, even though I really really like the more detailed delivery states of "Local Delivery" vs. an ordinary order

Hi there,

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Your feedback helps us improve the local delivery experience, including how it’s set up, how it’s offered at checkout, and how orders are delivered through the Shopify Local Delivery app.

We are starting work to make it easier to ensure you are able to treat any appropriate order as a local delivery order.

The order list (delivery list) currently is built to send the “out for delivery” notifications when the list is started by the driver. I will reach out to you via email to see if you are looking for additional notifications.

We are sorry the address verification is not working for you. We are looking into ways we can improve our support for more addresses especially for global customers.

Be sure to check your inbox and junk mail folder for my email.

I look forward to speaking to you!
