APP IS CONSISTENTLY CRASHING. RESPONSE ARE VERY SLOW.
IT DOES AFFECT SALES NEGATIVELY
AND TODAY AS I WRITE THIS REVIEW, I GOT LOST IN THE JUNGLE BECAUSE THEIR APP IS NOT LOADING AT ALL AND NO ONE IS RESPONDING TO EMAILS, CHATS, AND ALL THE COMMUNICATION CHANNELS THAT THEY HAVE.
I contacted support several times to reproduce a very simple feature.
At first, they confirmed it was possible with the Premium plan, and even said they could set it up for me directly.
I agreed, gave them access to my store, and waited several days.
Result: nothing was done.
Each time, a new agent took over the conversation without reading the previous messages, and I had to explain everything again from the beginning.
After hours of chat and multiple promises (“it’s in progress,” “our developer is handling it,” “you’ll be notified within 1–2 days”),
they finally told me that it wasn’t possible with the current app and that they were no longer accepting custom development requests.
In summary:
The team made me waste a lot of time with contradictory information.
No solution was ever implemented, even though my request was crystal clear.
The app is very slow to load (over 10 seconds per page).
The support team makes promises they don’t keep.
I strongly advise against this app until it becomes more stable and the support team acts more professionally.
Multiple issues with the recent updates. I had about 200 dynamic filters set up that worked fine for years. After doing a shop sync since the update, a bunch of options that were not supposed to be on items were. So I had 100s of product listings with multiple option sets showing that were not supposed to be on them.
I had to go through every single option set and update the dynamic filter. I spent HOURS going through and fixing options that I never had any problems with before they did a bunch of app updates.
We installed Product Options back in 2013 when BoldApps managed it. Had minimal issues up until ShipCircle took over. Started having issue after issue. Back in 2024 we started experiencing app incompatiblity with Shopify's update and Shop Circle was clueless about their own app. I was promised "fix" after "fix" for months with no improvement. They didn't even know their own features offered on their upgraded plan. We lost thousands of dollars in revenue and discovered that Shopify doesn't stand behind their app developers OR store owners. I recently switched over to BigCommerce for numerous reasons and my only regret is that I didn't switch sooner. Major game changer for our business. The reps are helpful and actually care. Their knowledge base is amazing. I was a Shopify customer for 10+ years and their customer support is non-existent. BigCommerce is the way to go to prevent ALOT of frustration and wasted time.
2024 Update:
I used to like this app when it was still run by a company called Bold Apps. Then, it seems they sold it to some company called Shop Circle and it's terrible now.
I've installed a new theme and I had to get them to reinstall their app on it. It's been a nightmare - at first, it looks like everything is done, then you find out that there are things wrong all over the place and so you try to get them to fix it.
They say they fixed it, then you find something else wrong somewhere else - OVER and OVER again. And it's not like one person is helping you - you get passed from one person to another, everyone doing a piece here, a piece there. I'm really upset and thinking about removing this app completely.
So disappointing.

I normally really LOVE Bold Apps and I think they're a good company, but this app definitely has some issues that they can't seem to fix for me. In particular, the app seems to randomly apply the options to some products and not others, giving me and my customers a very inconsistent experience. When I try to contact Bold, they are "kind of" helpful, but the thing is, I get passed from one rep to another and often have to explain the problem over and over again. I also feel that the reps do not read my messages carefully, because sometimes they make suggestions for things that I've already tried doing, which makes me feel like I'm wasting my time. I'm STILL trying to get it to work properly, after having it for over a month and paying for the $20 subscription. It's been a frustrating experience, but I'm hoping that Bold will try to improve this product, because so far, I don't feel like it's "there" yet.

UPDATED REIVEW;
User beware, the new owners of this app have consistently made sweeping changes that either make the admin experience worse, or break things with no warning.
Like making a change to how an option type is displayed to the customer, and then telling us they can't roll back the change and we have to use a work around to undo the pointless change they made.
Or changing how options are applied to products, and then not telling us that updating any option set would cause those options to be applied to all products in our store, unless we went through the time consuming process of reselecting the products. They pushed an update they knew would break things and decided to make it our job to migrate to the new selection system it instead of doing it automatically.
TLDR; Don't get invested in this app, especially if you are a power user / have products with lots of options. Shop Circle keeps making the app worse and they haven't added any new features since they took over. Only removed quality of life features and generally made it worse.

Thank you to Jeff and his team for solving an occasional issue we were having. Occasionally priced option variants wouldn't be in the cart when the customer checked out.
The support team fixed this not only for our live store, but also for our development mode testing store. Thanks again!
Now if only they could add some quality of life features and proper integration with a few of the apps BOLD still owns.

Updated Review: We were on the premium plan with the Bold PO app and have experienced a significant decline in quality of customer service and the app in general since SCPO acquired it. At first we were excited that they reduced the monthly price point for the premium version by $10/month, but it has come with a serious cost...
Since April 2024, we have encountered issues with incorrect orders, missing required fields, and improper customer charges. Despite customer service's attempts to fix these problems through coding changes, the issue was not resolved and it took over a month of back-and-forth communication to finally have it fixed.
Unfortunately, since that time we have started to have other issues pop up related to the code changes that SCPO made to the site when attempting to troubleshoot our issue in April. Shopify and our theme developer have confirmed the issues are related to those changes made in April, however SCPO said that is not true. As they were unable to assist, I had to seek assistance from an outside tech person to address the issue that they stated they could not find evidence of.
Recently, I again noticed an issue where if someone is changing dropdown menu fields that have a price adjustment attached to them, that the pricing is not always updating correctly on the product. Sometimes it states a price much lower or much higher than it truly should be. I also was not able to add this product to my cart. I sent video evidence of this to customer service and they said they would need to pass it on to the developer to review. I just received an email from the development team not addressing my stated issues whatsoever and telling me that the app is working as it should when this is simply not true. I am beyond frustrated at having an app that I pay $40/month for and my tech issues are not thoroughly investigated, the responses I receive fail to address the issues at hand, and they repeatedly dismiss concerns of which there is video evidence that they do, indeed, exist.
SCPO, it is time for your developers and customer service team to do better and support your clientele.

Previous Review: We have been using this app for about the past 6 months. We utilize the Premium version and for what it is, it is quite pricey; being the only app we found that will alter the pricing at the top of the page with variants, they have a corner on the market, however. For $50/month the easy of editing variants could be better. Another large drawback of the app is that you cannot utilize currency selectors for customers as Bold variants will not adapt, resulting in undercharging of customers and lost revenue. Customer service has been fair as well as overall experience. Again, biggest issue would be premium pricing is $$$$ for what it is.

Disaster. I have been a Product Options customer for 10 years. I started noticing a few options not being charged to customers recently and reached out to support. They informed me I need to install Version 2. After horrific communication that takes days for each message, they deployed something that completely torpedoed my entire site and it doesn't even seem like we can undo it. It appears like "Shop Circle" purchased this app from BOLD but kept the name. I am currently losing thousands in revenue a day with an unknown impact on long-term sales and no real resolution in sight that doesn't likely involve 50+ hours of work on my end.
Any time you try and make any change, be prepared for it to mess with another random part of the options you've set up. I try and do anything simple and something goes wrong, and then customer service are sure to explain to you the stuff you've already tried and not address the problems. Ever.
Product options has been down for 6 days and I have put in 3 support tickets, yet no one has contacted me to fix it. I have lost sales due to the options not showing and that is unacceptable. I do not recommend this app. The technical support is nonexistent.
