In “high-strung tuning” (also known as “Nashville tuning”), the bottom four strings are tuned an octave higher than standard tuning, like the second set of strings on a 12-string guitar. The top two strings are pitched to standard tuning. Because the strings are a thin gauge, they are by definition light gauge.
