This app has potential to be so much better than it actually is, given it is made by Shopify for Shopify merchants - it should be so much more powerful and integrated than what it actualy is. I do like how easy it is to select products from my store to promote in an email, however I cannot believe that Shopify do not make First Name fields available to personalise each email to my loyal customer base - why would I send out an email that is not addressed personally to them? There is very little in the back end to support refining customer lists and segmentation within shopify also, more work needs to occur with this app to make it worthwhile to use.
It doesn't work. We're getting a white screen of death when trying to create a new email campaign. Frankly, not surprised. It's somehow in the Shopify's DNA to blow feature launches :)
UPDATE: Seems to work. Looks good so far.

Email automations aren't available for this app? How can I sent an email to a certain customer? Or it's not possible?
Hi there. Thank you for taking the time to leave this review and share your feedback. Shopify Email is primarily intended to create email marketing campaigns and send them from Shopify directly. That said, if you are looking to send a specific customer an email, I would recommend simply doing so from the "Customers" section of your Shopify admin. It is easy to use. I do wish there were more features to it though. I would like to have more control of products in a row rather than just down only. Thank you
This app divides emails into batches so that they might take up to 72 hours for all of them to be sent out. It completely ruined my product launch because my email subscribers were expecting to receive an email at a certain time to order one of my limited edition items. Now half of them haven't even received the email, and they've been waiting for weeks.
Design options or templates are very very limited. Difficult to make changes to the way the email looks.

I used this to send out a marketing email to my customers. It was fine to set up although I needed help to add something to my DNS setting because test emails weren't going through which is weird because Shopify is my host. Unlike Mailchimp though you can't do anything more after sending it. You can't see who opened the email and send them further marketing, nothing. I'll continue using Mailchimp until Shopify actually starts to take this seriously because right now it's just not very good.

Shopify Email is still a relatively new app and our development team continue to build it over time. I think that we need more options for templates - as in instead of just stacking pictures or products they should have an option for tiles (i.e. featuring a collection in your email)
The app keeps shutting down while using the editor. This app is nog usable for me. I haven't even started an emailcampaign because of the bugs

It's a GREAT app to send basic newsletters, however, for 5 stars it would need to have additional features like i.e. the option to insert responsive grids, more fonts and custom fonts. Other than that we are very happy that we can use a stable and safe app that is very easy to use. Thank you Shopify for enabling us to not have to use 3rd party apps.
