TaxJar Sales Tax Automation

The app is unusable for any Shopify merchant who has a base currency that is not USD... It assumes USD in the connection to Shopify, which makes the filing completely wrong (they could just read in the USD values from the order, but they didn't think to do such a simple thing).

A spoke at length with the support team, who eventually just said they are aware of the shortcoming, but said it wasn't on their roadmap to fix it.

So for now, we are doing manual imports to TaxJar which defeats much of the purpose of even using them in the first place.

Looking at other reviews of this app, I can see TaxJar are not concerned with building a robust platform that actually works.

Very poor service.

No way to connect this to the SANDBOX. If you want to test this, you will POLLUTE your live data.

*****BEWARE!! DO NOT USE TAXJAR!!! *****Charging us $30,000 in states sales tax when we really owe $300. RIDICULOUS!!! They will not help us amend this before filing. They will be stealing $30,000 from us that we don't have!! They also take days to respond and there are deadlines that they will not help before!

Support can't tell me why the total sales in one county do not equal the sum of sales in three cities located within that county. I'm just getting cut and paste replies that suggest I should inquire with my state's DOR. My return is being flatly rejected because of their faulty calculations. How could the state have an answer for Taxjar's unacceptable numbers? They've basically shrugged their shoulders literally telling me that Taxjar uses 'lots of tax logic'.

I’ve been a customer for years. Needed support last week and no one is there to help me. They won’t get on the phone with you unless you’re on the $349/mo plan. Will change to another app!

TaxJar makes paying sales tax extremely easy and hassle free. The customer service is why I'm taking the time to leave a review. A few months back our State Department of Revenue made an error that resulted in an incorrect payment. I notified TaxJar and they took the time to contact them and solve the problem. I really appreciate TaxJar going above and beyond to help a small business function. I would recommend them to anybody with an ecommerce business!

It sure takes a load off of calculating taxes for California. It's a bit pricey for having just one nexus maybe, but a lifesaver in general.

Taxjar is worth every penny. By helping us put our US taxes on autopilot, we can focus time instead on our business. Autofile is easy to setup, and once you've linked up your Shopify or Amazon channels, it'll automatically start pulling in all the data and calculate how much taxes you owe. It's a no-brainer, and hugely helpful.

WARNING: whenever you use the edit function on an order in shopify and you remove products (e.g. order changes prior to shipping), the removed product will be included in your revenue that tax jar uses for auto file. Reached out to their support after we discovered thousands of dollars in overpaid taxes and was told "just don't use the edit order functionality". This essentially renders the app useless for shopify. We are in process of cleaning this up - we may need to eat a huge chunk of overpaid sales tax here.
